PM knows that the one knock on this team is the midweek game struggles. He says it in the clip. And anyone who knows how the committee works knows that unless you win your conference, the OOC games will matter because they get lumped in with your RPI/SOS which gets focused on the most during selection time. Are they more important than those conference wins? Of course not. No one has EVER made that claim. But it's the strawman people like Moscona built up just to make themselves right before anyone could know how this team would finish up in the SEC standings.

Yep...

Had we not won 11 of our last 12 SEC games, which the probability of that happening when we were 10-8 was low, those midweek losses would bite us in the arse. Hell, it's because of those midweek losses that we won't be the 3 or 4 national seed.

I think Moscona has said all along that, if the team can get to 19 or 20 wins, then the midweek games won't matter. That has been his mantra pretty much from day one of the season.

Moscona acts as if its black and white., but he's dead wrong.

The games count or they wouldn't keep score. And yes LSU tries to win every one of them without destroying their chances to win the weekend's series.

And for the kids who do play often its a huge game. It was for Hess before he "graduated" to the weekend, it was for Watson and Coomes who proved their mettle and won jobs in the regular lineup. Its also important for kids working on issues, fighting to get out of a slump, and for kids fighting off competition.

No one recommends burning pitching to beat NO only to lose to Georgia or SC or another SEC team, but we all want to see the backline guys improving, SEC guys getting a little work on the hill, and guys fighting for spots have their chances.

It's not the end of the world to lose some midweek games, but its better if you win them than lose them.
