She called out the school for no reason in front of all the parents and family, the faculty, and the students. School did the right thing in shutting that shite down and hopefully teaching her a lesson -- although I doubt it because she feels so wronged over something that didn't happen

Actually academic scholarships are typically four year. They require a certain GPA but they are awarded as four year scholarships.
Athletic scholarships are year to year.

Well, 60K isn't paying for four years at Baylor...

t high school guidance counselors are pretty much worthless. If you get a good one, that's a rarity.

Heard the little girl was in the wrong. Just a bitter family!

I would pull her scholarship offer if I was in admission at Baylor - don't need another student that blames everyone else but can't place any blame internally.
Parents and students must be the driver of all admission and scholarship activities - never trust a high school counselor.

An official copy of their HS transcripts. I think for most in state schools, the college can just requested be submitted electronically but for out of state school, they often have to be requested by the student and sent to the college, which requires an extra step by the counselor.

Sure, but who is to say that she doesn't have other scholarships lined up for the rest of the cost?
Anyway, while I understand her frustration, I don't think graduation is the place for this.

My high school guidance counselor had a mean streak and hated kids.

Don't you select which colleges you want to receive your scores when you register for the test? Been a long time since I took it but i remember having to enter the codes for the colleges?
You don't know ahead of time what your grade will be or which college would use that result to offer you a a scholly.
But after offering you based in your score, I'm positive the college contacts the school for all pertinent information.

Calvary and Evangel.... Lol. Suck up all of the local football talent and pay for it by allowing the kids of scared white parents to go there.
Send your kids to public schools so that they can learn not to be afraid of black people. Jesus.

I think that some people were expecting the racist ot to side with the white girl, which would allow them an opening to point out the hypocrisy between white girl and beard boy.
Oops...the ot was pretty objective with this one.
She broke the rules and dealt with the consequences, which is exactly what should have happened. Let's see if state reps, businesses, etc come running to hook her up now.

The family was paying to send her to Calvary by choice. No one was forcing her to go there. If they were unhappy, they should have changed schools. This just makes the girl and the family look stupid. The girl purposely deceived the administration by giving them a fake speech to approve. Did she really think the school was going to sit back while she trashed everyone because of her opinion. There are plenty of people who "love" the counselor at Calvary who she called out. This lady has spent many countless hours over the years giving ACT prep classes. This is just one bitter girl and family. Calvary did the right thing by escorting her off stage. She was told she could come to the school and pick up her diploma.

Yea, because you know how the counselor will handle your college info BEFORE you choose a school.....dumbass

if you're going to get up in public and blast the school you are paying to go to over something that almost happened, then you've been unhappy there for a long time. You obviously don't know the situation here.
