Will Clark is an insufferable douche.
I played a couple of rounds of golf with him at CCL and he could not have been nicer to me and my son.
He didn't know me from Adam and the way he comported himself would give me no indication that he was in the least bit douchey.
In fact, it's far more of a douche move to call out a ball player on a internet forum with no fear of reprisal because you can hide like a bitch behind an alias.

So for those keeping track.
1. Kobe is the GOAT in the NBA.
2. Brees is the GOAT in the NFL.
3. Will Clark is the GOAT in MLB.
Which makes no sense because Pedro was slaughtering in the middle of the steroid era.

I know Will Clark and he knows I think he's a douche. So there.

Frank Thomas literally shits all over Clark also without juicing.
There's a reason The Big Hurt is in the Hall Of Fame and the The Big Douche isn't.

How do you know Frank Thomas didn't juice? Btw Will Clark isn't close to the GOAT.

Look at him. He didn't need to.
How do you know Clark didn't juice?
Thomas was one of the first players to come out and take a public stance against steroids and PED's years before the public even knew it was a problem. He regularly agreed to be tested for steroids. He was the ONLY player that agreed to be interviewed for the Mitchell Report.
Here's an LA Times article from 1995 where Frank Thomas and Tony Gwynn are advocating for steroid testing in MLB
LINK
quote:
"I'd love to see testing myself," said Chicago White Sox first baseman Frank Thomas, one of baseball's big men at 6 feet 5 and 268 pounds. "If it can be done in every other sport, why not ours? At least it would get rid of the suspicions."
Added Thomas, who said he gained 35 pounds during the off-season, "I went in to see my doctor this winter, and he even asked me, 'Hey, are you on steroids?' It's a question people are going to ask, especially [of] the big power hitters, unless something is done about it."
Also kind of funny, there's quotes by Bud Selig in that article denying the League was aware of a steroid problem.

I don't and I don't think he was the GOAT. Look at the Big Hurt. He was huge. I was a big fan. Somewhere I still have a lot of Big Hurt cards. Also had some awesome shoes and cleats. Lots of players denied juicing.

But how many were calling for testing back in 95 and freely offering to be tested?
Lots of players have denied using, sure. But only after it became an issue. And only after being accused. And a lot of the ones who denied were called out by fellow players and former teammates as liars. That's never been a problem for Thomas. His former peers are actually on record as saying Thomas was one of the few who they knew were clean. Thomas and Gwynn are respected by players and always held up as two of the great clean players from that era.
LINK
quote:
Jerry Reinsdorf said, "We always knew that Frank was not a steroid guy. I'm very proud of the fact that he stepped up and expressed himself and that he will have a continuing role.''
quote:
Talking to former White Sox assistant general manager Dan Evans about Thomas earlier this month, Evans offered his own strong endorsement.
"There were no issues with him. He was as clean as could be," Evans said. "No doubt in my mind whatsoever, and I can say that about very few guys, but no doubt."
Why would he be the only player to go before Congress and testify without being forced if he was lying?
Why did he get 83.7% of the Hall Of Fame vote on his 1st ballot when guys like Palmeiro, McGwire, and Bonds are getting less than 10% and falling every year If anybody had any reason to suspect him?
Why did Frank Thomas age like a normal person when the above listed guys and other known steroid users were magically better and stronger and faster and healthier in their 30s than they were in their 20s?
quote:
Look at the Big Hurt. He was huge.
Yes, Frank Thomas has always been huge. He played Tight End at Auburn and in the link above they quote a 1986 article with a list of Auburn's football signees from that year and Frank Thomas is listed at 6'4" 245 pounds as a HIGH SCHOOLER. During his 2 MVP seasons he was listed at 240... 5 pounds lighter than as a HS senior.
He only gained any significant weight when he was older and could barely move any more after several injuries. And his hitting dropped off as his weight rose.
Totally sounds like steroids, right?

nice player.
not in the top 100 all time.
lots of guys fish or hunt in the off season.
.303 lifetime. two years over .325. none over 339.
no year leading league HR or DOUBLES.
good. never great.
during his years in the limelight, he was known as the good old boy.
