You were very very very lucky to get purchases reimbursed on a debit card.

Why? This has happened to my family a few times over the years and the bank has always returned the money no problem.

debit card fraud is just a normal part of banking these days; it would have to be something abnormal for the bank NOT to refund.

I had an $800 debit card charge to Paypal hit my account. I found it the next day and called the bank. They immediately credited my account back while they investigate.

Nah man it's just my white privilege.

In fact, I'm a racist white nationalist simply because I put a stop to those poor oppressed people who are just trying to better their lives. The money I earn is a symptom of systematic racism and is basically stealing from these descendants of slaves so it's only fair that they rise up and take back what is theirs.

My guilt is so all encompassing I need to pay money to take a course on how my white self can be more WOKE.

Banks will reimburse you for fraudulent activity whether it was a credit or debit card, or direct EFT from your account.

The only problem with fraud on debit card vs fraud on credit card is that the debit card fraud takes money directly from your checking account and it may take some time for the fraudulent charges to be reversed. Less hassle for you while waiting for a bank to reverse the charges on a credit account compared to if the thieves were able to empty your checking account.

We had our account hacked this weekend as well. I don't even know how they caught it since all the charges were within an hour of our home (Houston metro area). Easily could have been us. But I guess they caught on to the randomness. Half of them were credited before we even knew. The others were still processing. It's not difficult for the bank to determine when it's fraud.

Why?
Someone stole my number and booked a room at the Bellagio and a flight on Korean Air. Bank reimbursed my money by the next day.

What kind of shitty bank do you use?

I had someone rack up $3k worth of charges on my card and I had my money refunded back into my account the very next day. (Chase Bank)
