I hate these fcking threads. It's going to be this way all offseason.
Someone starts an O thread and then several pages of bitching and fighting about O and Miles.
As someone who will participate, I agree, however, it's stuff like this....
quote:
He's not Saban, Urban, or Peterson, but he will be consistent and will always invest everything he has into the university.
Thanks for admitting we didn't try to hire an elite coach. And people are excited because he has "heart?"
quote:
This is his dream job, as it would be every one of us.
No it isn't. It never has been. He's a Cajun, a Ragin one at that. This is not Ed's dream job, and I don't know why people want to continuously parrot this belief. This is maybe the most annoying thing about the whole situation.
And this...
quote:
If he sucks after four years, next man up.
The excuses and sliding success scale are ALREADY a problem and he hasn't coached a single game as the actual head coach. He was supposed to provide consistency, and not losing a step. A "win now," type of hire rather than a rebuilding one. Yet, "win now," means in 4 years if things go south?
I'd love for the Excited crowd to at least acknowledge that:
1) The O hire is terrible, Right now, and the process was completely flawed
2) There is no legitimate metric that makes this make sense
3) This isn't O's dream job, at all, and he openly hammered LSU on multiple occasions. He's an opportunist at heart. He is not an "LSU man"
4) Going the "Clemson" route is not a common way to win. It just happened to work that one time. We may not actually replicate that success.
5) He has to win now, not in 4 years, otherwise this hire makes no sense because....
6) Even if you argue that O's Interim Records matter in this (and I wouldn't), he has never shown the ability to build a program, never been hired to do it after Ole Miss, never really had interest in it after Ole Miss, and doesn't seem to have the skillset for it. You don't hire O as a 10 year program building, elite level coach. He doesn't match that approach to football. He doesn't have that kind of philosophy. That actually might be why his interim record is so good and his head coaching record is so terrible.
I'll acknowledge the following:
1) Those who are not excited could very well be wrong
2) The O hire for consistency does make sense. Everyone else is too young or I wouldn't trust them either. If we really wanted consistency, and that was Alleva's goal, then this was the only hire to make.
3) Canada was a good hire
4) O is crazy enough for this whole plan to maybe work, and he has some good connections in football
5) He does have passion for football and he has a knack for spotting talent. That can help long term.
6) He is from Louisiana and does seem to love Louisiana. I'm not sure that matters in the grand scheme of things. But there you go.

And how do you know that coach O wasn't heavily involved in the LSU offense after he took over?????
Because in 32 years he has never been an offensive coach.
How do you know miles wasnt heavily involved in the defense during his tenure?
My bet is you dont apply the same logic to miles that youre doing with Coach O.

Its hard to believe that he was involved in anything those last few years....except looking for a tasty blade of grass to chew.

Do you have a link to document the above, or is that one of your many facts that you made up right off the top of your head?
Where are these offers?
You say Miles not getting job offers means he sucks but who was offering ed orgeron any jobs?
quote:
Uhm...just wondering, other than you, who has said this is how coach O coaches the team or intends to coach the team
Other than me? Holy shite. So now I'm the one saying he will get out the way and let his coordinators run their side of the ball. I'm the one that states that?

When I used to watch the videos of practice when Miles was the coach, I hardly ever saw Miles being hands on with players. I saw him mostly walking around like he was lost and only every once in a while did I see him commenting to a player.
Wow. Then you clearly didnt watch much practice.
quote:
Not to mention, that Miles was so inarticulate it didn't matter because none of the players could have understood what he was trying to say in any event.
Cool.

You're just being obtuse. I dont believe you anymore when you say you want Miles gone. Your posts suggest otherwise.
You cant even wait for the Orgeron tenure to get in full swing before tearing the guy down.
At least I had a reason with Miles.
Your basing all of your facts on the past....which doesnt necessarily dictate the future.

Amanda's resume shits on Ed Orgeron's resume.
Who's Amanda dude? Is she some broad you are tapping on the side. Is she getting recommendations from highly regarded people like O did? Get out of here you loser, you are boring me to death with your immense stupidity.
You condemn Alleva for hiring O and all you can do is recommend that we fire O, who successfully auditioned for the job, and hire Amanda, whoever that is? If I would have known you were this dumb dude, I wouldn't even have asked you the question. Wait...I did. That is know that you were that dumb.

Are you suggesting that an uncertainty at head coach this year had no effect whatsoever on recruits?
Im not suggesting anything .
Im stating facts.
Recruits didnt start jumping ship omce miles was fired. I give Coach O credit for keeping the class intact but I'm not gonna act like Miles was fired and then recruits just started jumping ship.
That's what i replied too. A plst said Coach O save a plummeting recruiting class and that's jist flat wrong. He kept.the class intact.

Someone should sit down and teach RD the definition of Facts. Miles blew the 05 season but will get a pass cause of Storms, blew the 06 season in which the the old lady next door that walks her dog in my yard could have coached that team and she probably wouldn't have lost 2 games, I mean a year which Jimbo could write a book about Miles horrible coaching & losing 2 games in 07 was pretty hard to do but not for Miles. Question, Does RD have other feeling for men the way he has for Miles or is RD a female? I sure hope so
Miles is one of the most accomplished coaches in sec history.
Fact.
Im sure it hurts you vagina.

Miles may have been involved in the defense while here... good for him... but YOU are all about facts, yet can't prove whether O was not a major factor in the running of the offense last year.... were you at practice??? In team meetings???? In the press box????? NO....

Tell that to Dabo.
Dabo is heavily involved in the offense.
Where are you people getting this bullshite myth?
There is zero evidence that Dabo is hands off.

By the way, by all accounts coach O did an excellent job at USC and LSU,
Yeah O really thrives when he doesn't have to hire the staff, choose the schemes, run the offense,or run the defense.
Its laughable that you dont give Miles credit for his 1st 3 seasons because it was Saban's recruits and then try to tout a fricking interim tenure.

Coach O said when he got the interim job that he was going to delegate and let the coaches coach. His hands-off approach has been widely reported as what changed from his Ole Miss tenure.
I'm not saying it's a positive or negative at this point, but it isn't some made up claim.

Ok. Miles ran the defense at lsu.
Fine. Ed Orgeron has never in his life been an offensive coach and he was heavily involved in the offense.

Exactly. But no it's all coming from me. I'm the only person to say Coach O will be hands off.

Well maybe one day you'll realize you started the personal attacks. But hey youre a huge hypocrite.
I atleast can acknowledged that 10 wins at lsu shouldn't be the ceiling.
You on the other hand are saying we shouldnt expect 10 wins from ed orgeron after 4 years of saying Miles was underachieving during 10 win seasons.
I at least acknowledge that a better game day coach wouldve had more success with the talent miles had.
You on the other hand called the talent at lsu," a steaming pile of mess".

I think he will be hands off as well.... but you make it sound like a fact that he wasn't involved in the offense... and you have zero clue if he did or not....
