I still dont see how this is a valid qualification. And somehow was his main selling point.

Oh well, its done now. Im all in.

Other than being from South LA ... what did he do to warrant being hired (or even consideration) for a supposed powerhouse?

Nothing. It's one of the most unqualified hires in big 6 history. The only one I can think of is Mike Dubose at bama but he actually ran bama's defense the year before being hired. Bama immediately regretted hiring him because in 4 years only once did he have a winning record in conf play.

This is one of the main reasons I wish Miles had been fired after 2015. No way in hell does Alleva hire Ed Orgeron if he didnt have the interim 2016 tenure.

I hope Coach O has the best tenure in lsu history but as of right now, he easily has the worst resume of any sec head coach and that's unacceptable at a top 10 alltime program.

What's really crazy is as lsu fans we know that a having a great recruiter and great motivator that had average at best game day coaching isn't good enough to win titles in this sec west. So we fire a great recruiter and great motivator that had questionable game day coaching and hired a great recruiter and great motivator that has questionable game day coaching.
We shpuldve hired a good game day head coach and let Coach O continue to load the roster with talent.its not like any other program was trying to hire him as a coordinator, let alone as Head coach.

I realize that we have to hope for the best ... but, this is the sort of thread that comes from thinking with one's heart instead of one's head.

Why? Because he didn't shite all over Orgeron like has become so popular to do within our fanbase?

Take a break Jordan Jefferson, you are getting worked up over nothing.

The difference is allowing your coordinators to actually coach and call plays. If Miles would have hired a better OC and let him call his own plays he would probably still be our coach and we would probably have a few more wins. I think O is exactly what we need.

Sit back and ask yourself this :

Did Alleva go out and get the best head football coach that LSU could possibly get ?

I say no .

But it worked out so well when Alleva hired Johnny Jones.

The best coaches in cfb are hands on.

Yeah a coach that wouldnt get interviewed at vandy or Kentucky is what our great program needs. If all Ed Orgeron is doing is letting the coordinators do every thing then why even hire him? Let him remain as a our recruiting coordinator and hire a head coach tbatthat has proven he can add something to the offensive and defensive game plans.
There are no title winning teams that have head coaches just get out of the way and let both coordinators run their side of the ball. Not a single one. Just because Miles was too hands on doesnt mean we should hire someome that is completely hands off.

The question you really should be asking is why were there not coaches lined up (not named Saban) to come coach this supposed powerhouse. We didn't get Jimbo or Herman and coach O was the benefactor, I hope he does well and I think he will he has already gotten off to a good start with the coaching hires. Give it a year or 2

You dont even need to ask that.

All you need to ask is....

Would Mississippi State, Vandy, missourri aor Kentucky have Ed Orgeron in their top 5 for HC?

My gut tells me Aranda will be the head coach next if coach O fails.

Who knows which coach had interest . It's pretty clear to unbiased people that Alleva had ed Orgeron has the 3rd choice. Our clown show Ad missed on the 2 obvious candidates and then offered ed orgeron the job.

LSU is as talented as any team not named bama.

This plus Ohio State.

LSU is loaded/was loaded when Ed took over. What LSU didn't have were certain positions that were loaded like d line and o line. We've seen the increase in d line since Ed has been here. Now I would like to see O line stack up.

Okay...put yourself in Alleva's shoes, who should he have gone out and hired to be the head football coach?

Okay, put yourself in Alleva's shoes, what would you have done to ensure LSU ended up with a top notch hire?
