Trump red line? US threatens new Syria strikes for gas attacks and barrel bombs

If the barrel bomb part is indeed the administration's intention, then we are probably going to war with Syria.
My hope is that Spicer just misspoke.

I was told those Tomahawks were no big deal and I was crazy to think Trump was escalating to war.

Probably right. Although wording the correction might be tough:
"Correction: If Syria barrel bombs civilians Trump will be OK and you should not expect a response. Also, gas is ok as long as there are no babies."

Never mind that the Rebels are using propane cannisters filled rusty nails as their crude weapon of choice. Some are imported from Saudi Arabia.

Such a mixed signal compared to what Trumps team put out Sunday - any actual effort towards regime change in Syria would be a deal breaker for many of Trumps original supporters
