I'd love Neal in the 7th. I think he could end up being part of some team's DL rotation.

Agreed, wouldn't hate him late. He showed some ability to rush the passer his Junior year. The drop off his senior year could've been due to scheme.

Also he is a smart guy, day trader & business owner.....and that was in college.
Plus ran his arse off this week at LSU pro day. High 4's that's fast for a DE...

He shouldn't last that long. He uses his hands as well as Anyone in the draft. He's a much better athlete than many realize (his LSU day showed that) and he has very long arms, idiots get caught up on height

quote:Heard Garic touting this as well. What business does he own? I go the feel that Garic was referring to day trading as his "business" but was not sure.

His pro day numbers were really impressive. Plus, the fact that he is shorter could actually help him as a situational edge pass rusher.

i think he is a better fit in the 3-4 as a rush LB. Hard to put a 6'0" out at end in a 4-3. That being said i think he'll be a steal late. I havent even seen him being mentioned by pundits, ever.

Agreed. But I assume being versatile defensively means you can carry a situational guy like Neal to rush the passer. Being able to morph into 3-4 looks isn't a bad thing either.

His height is his main drawback. He has incredible fight though. I can see him rushing the passer on 3rd down at wide 9. Would be a cheap backup plan.

I've been a big fan of Lewis Neal since he got to LSU and he did much better than I thought he would at LSUs Pro day. 4.72 40yd dash and a 36" vert at 261lbs. I believe his vert was the highest at the Pro day. Impressive. Also saw where he looked pretty good in LB drills and agility drills.
No, his height isn't what you want for his position. But hes got really long arms (arm length of someone 6'5). And that helps him makeup for his lack of height. And he's very strong. He actually played DT at LSU his sophomore year, at 255lbs. And he held his own. Also think he would be a nice special teams player as well.
I'd be happy with Neal late in the draft.

quote:no doubt because the obvious choice for comparisons sake is Dwight Freeney. They have the almost same exact body type with Neal being 6ft and half inch tall and around the same weight, but Freeney is a much more explosive athlete and a surefire HOF'er one day. I just hope Neal turns into a solid football player for years to come.
i think he is a better fit in the 3-4 as a rush LB.

I'd take him in the 6th/7th. He can get to the QB.
