Also check your laptop interface, most laptop ssd's will be sata3. Any modern laptop should be as well, but I think sata3 is backwards compatible with 2 and 1.
Don't buy a pci-e ssd as I doubt your laptop has that interface

Nvme is compatible with m.2, right? Most modern laptops have m.2 expansion
