I've used several dating apps. When I first got divorced a friend told me to try Match.... Said you have to send out a lot of emails and you'll get a response to about 1 out of 10. He was pretty close. I'd say maybe 30% respond. Anyway, it's like fishing. You have to cast a bunch. But, if you stick with it, you will get dates if you're half way normal. Do not be a pushy, weirdo douche and you should be fine.
Also... I figured out, there are lots of robots and Russian chicks looking for a ticket to America on these sites. However, they are very easy to spot once you know what to look for.

Couple thoughts:
-Lately I've found Hinge to be by far the best. It allows you to "swipe" someone by commenting on their pics or random things they've written about themselves in their profile. If you're even mildly clever it basically gives you a thousand ways to open the conversation as opposed to a generic swipe.
-Tinder is a disaster unless you're looking for Asians/Latinos.
-Bumble is pretty legit. For whatever reason I have less success on it, but I don't find it has many bots at all.
-Agree that you gotta be pretty direct and aggressive with regards to messaging and meeting in person. Idk if 3 messages is too few, but I agree that they've put it out there that they're interested so get to it.
-Agree that if you are in good shape and have a shirtless pic of you on the beach with your friends, def add it. They don't want douchey shirtless pics, but they're human and on an almost exclusively visual-related dating app. What you look like matters.
I was about as skeptical as you could be when I started, but I've had a lot of success. I'm in a big city (Chicago), and I'm always stunned at the lookers on here. I've had a couple who clearly had doctored or old pics when we met, but I haven't had any horror stories. I've also had a couple that I was stunned how good looking they were. I agree go to a casual drink place where if it's not going well you can bounce but if it is then you can roll it into food there or somewhere nearby.
I do think it's somewhat annoying we have to revert to this online app stuff and wish more chicks were willing to just meet someone organically, but it does make things pretty easy. Get to it!

Match wipes out those Russian chicks within hours now. They are all the same. Smokeshow pics with broken English and some gmail or .ru addy in the description to write them at.

Serious question, as I have no clue, but are chicks really unwilling to do this? I thought these dating apps were just because as you get further out of college, there aren't as many chances to even meet someone organically.

You're crazy. Dating apps have revolutionized dating. Is it shallow? Yeah, but I would argue much of dating is shallow. Is it tough to land marriage material? Probably, because those women have overwhelming male attention without apps.
What is it good for? These apps are a terrific and easy way to get middle quality to upper middle quality dates on the spot without ever leaving your toilet seat. If you're worried, just facebook the person before you meet up. Or plug her name into the Google machine. I'd say more than half of chicks with a decent job have a LinkedIn profile.
But don't miss out on this poon frenzy bc you're being a poon.
