Not sure if this counts as urban legend, but kids often had a saying, "Step on a crack, break your momma's back."

Turns out that's not true, no matter how many times I tried.

Daddy Long Legs are actually extremely venomous. Their fangs just aren't long enough to puncture skin.

Are mountain lion in Alabama?

In Alabama, no mountain lion/vehicle collisions have been confirmed for at least 60 years and there is no self-sustaining population of mountain lions currently known in Alabama. Resident populations appear to have been extirpated from Alabama in the mid-1800s.

I lived in the Frenchtown Rd. area from the 70's into the 80's. We tried to find the devil worshipers when we camped out but came up short.

Dope runner driving 180 at night in a Diablo using night vision goggles. Cops using bright strobes to wreck him.

I heard a high schooler tell that about a year ago like he heard it on the news the previous night.

There's a pretty good story written as a first person blog out there. I'll try to Google it.

The moccasin thing really happened at sandy beach in Houma, the kid that told me about it in third grade assured me that it was fa true.

There was also a girl that inhaled Freon and jumped off the roof at Sears, not sure how she got up there

The Halloween poisoned candy one.

Turns out there has been a total of ONE such true incident. And the person who poisoned the candy--was the child's own father (so he could collect on an insurance policy).

the Wild Mouse at fun fair park, we would ride the hell out of that rickety ol' piece of shite in the early 80's

but there were all kinds of death stories from "people fell off it and died and in some spots you can get decapitated"

These stories are 100% false but if you listened to the populous you would think Alabama had a population density of mountain lions that is completely unseen anywhere else in the world. Not only that, but also some of these cats are black which is genetically impossible.

Rednecks love lying about seeing stuff when they are hunting though so it comes with the territory

There have been legit spottings in Kentucky and Tennessee, so it's not too far-fetched to think they're ranging into Alabama these days as well. I am skeptical of most sightings, but there are some that are likely legit.

I heard the same one 15 or so years ago. He would drive from Houston to Baton Rouge in under 2 hours.
