I know a bunch of University of Louisiana at Lafayette types around here who say LSU is just pain scared to play the mighty Cajuns. Oh, how I do suffer in this town.

haha... I gotten the same thing from a couple people. It's just plain laughable.

Apparently several of you have a reading disability. I said very little separates the softball teams.

For football, USL likes scoring more than 1 point per game------25 total in 22 games(that's pretty close to 1 per--------right??)

The real reason they don't play anymore is it would just cost LSU way too much money....Just think of all the schedules that would have to be constantly reprinted every time they decide to change there name.

LSU does not need to play ULLLL in baseball to improve its RPI. Just check out the Top 10, let alone the Top 20 & throw in the trip to Houston this year where LSU played 2 top 10 teams as well. Any team in the SEC has more than enough RPI power to get a higher seeding in the playoffs. Too, ULLLL won't play a 3 game series at LSU unless LSU reciprocates. Too much lost revenue for LSU for that to happen. As for softball, the main reason has already been stated for the most part. Again, look at the Top 10 teams from the SEC & it's obvious LSU does not need to play ULLLLLL to strengthen its RPI.

When is the last time LSU played this "USL" team in football?

1. basketball. LSU does not want to lose to them. and they would now and then.
hurts recruiting. UL L would get some big time players if they won now and then even every 4 years. it would be an entry to homes.

2. football. UL L wants no part of it.

It shouldn't cost LSU anything. They've been ULL since 2000. That's 18 years.

The few people I know who went to ULL have the most insane hatred of LSU. I don't get it, either. As someone said, we do not have any direct competition with them. Maybe it is some kind of Napolean complex?

I went to ULL and I love LSU. And in my experience, the majority of ULL graduates feel the same as I do.

There are way too many public universities in this state to keep track of, but I sense a disdain to LSU from ULL in particular

They always see themselves as the redheaded step child to LSU. The real animosity is towards the LSU Board and the legislature that prevents them from being formally recognized as The University of Louisiana. They do not like being the University of Louisiana - Lafayette.

This is a joke, correct ?

I can't see one young man deciding between LSU and ULL (?) and ending up in Lafayette.

Well, to be completely honest, it was SLI for a long time. Then USL. Now, ULLLLLLLLLL. Born, raised & spent a lot of my professional life in Lafayette, grew up loving USL basketball, Bo Lamar's days, but in time, the hard core USL fan base makes you choose, LSU or the Bulldogs. I know of no ULLLLL fan or alumni who likes LSU & I know 100's.

As far as football goes Louisiana Tech would be the closest thing to an instate rival.. Their talent level would at least keep it competitive past the 1st quarter.
