Looking to relocate.

Work from home so no commute issues. have two elementary age kids.

Don't want a neighborhood of rental properties or old folks.

leaning towards bluewater bay in Niceville but would like to get the input of the board.

thanks

Blue water Bay is nice as is Niceville. I know nothing of the school district. A relative runs food service at Watercolor and he bought a house closer to 98 a few miles east of 30A. Loves it and so do his kids.

I've read some not so nice things about Niceville. I don't remember details, but you may want to use Google and look further into that.

The homes around Kelly Plantation are nice but I have a feeling that it's probably a bunch of old folks.

The Florida panhandle in general is about the trashiest place on earth once you get a mile inland

My Mom lives in Rosemary. Apparently the public schools around are shite and have massive drug problems. Most of the people who live in Rosemary send their kids to the little private school in the development.

There are a lot of affluent people living along 30A but most are older. A lot of the younger folks with kids are very transient types.

I think your best bet would be to live in the bigger areas, such as Niceville.

Freeport looks pretty cool when you drive through it but I don't know anything about it

ETA: if I didn't have to commute I'd look at Fairhope over the Florida panhandle

I live in Niceville and know the area extremely well seeing how I was born and raised here. Without knowing your price range it is tough to give you a good answer. Swift Creek is a good development in Niceville, and there are other new developments that are being built up right now in Niceville but you will be looking at $350k+. School district is excellent, Plew Elementary and Edge Elementary in Niceville are good schools, but Bluewater Elementary is the best elementary school in our area by far. I would definitely stay in the Niceville area so your kids can go to Niceville High, A+ school in academics and sports. Give me some more information and I can help you out, I can also put you in contact with a good realtor.

All day this but that's still a hike to the beach if that is the main reason for the OP wanting to move to Destin.

Want to be closer to family in South Mississippi while still being in a no income tax state.

Looked at Pensacola area but it did not suit me. Next down the line is Destin area.

Price range probably up to $450K but flexible. You are sort of confirming what I thought about the area from my research.

AS for realtor, would love any recommendation.

Niceville/ bluewater is the best place around for kids. Schools are great, as in tops in the state. Destin and 30a school system could become great but Niceville is too notch and not looking to go anywhere, so it's not worth the risk. Niceville is much more Air Force and government workers, while Destin and 30a much more real estate, property management, construction based.

Gulf breeze is solid too.

Lol at Fairhope, it's a great city but it's Alabama. Please don't try to tell me Alabama as a state is anywhere close to Fl.

FYI you can get a house on the water for low 500s in niceville. Destin is going to take closer to 700k probably.
