Best thing about baseball is legitimate discussion about players, situations and overall strategy.
Great game to knock things around.

i agree 100%, i think even the less knowledgable posters in the baseball crowd contribute to usually good overall discussions. Like that Breaux/Beau thread, we made it 2 pages without someone going and not in a good way. Football the 2nd post woulda been reserve for some bullshite.
glad to have hardball back lets beat TCU next week and win #7

The worse fans are the smug people who criticize other people who want to be fans and who are not as knowledgeable.
What is the actual point of it?

Should you make your college decision based on what CFB program you support? What if you get scholarships somewhere else?

Had a buddy who all of sudden became an LSU fan in 2004. I called him out on it and swore up and down he has been a fan all his life. He came to my house to watch a game one night and asked what they meant by "redzone" , BUSTED!!

That's called bandwagon not sidewalk. I don't think OP knows what he means by sidewalk fan. Historically that's a reference to whether or not you graduated from the school, which of course has absolutely no bearing on your sports IQ.

Honestly not a big baseball fan, but like anything want us to win.
So not very knowledgeable in sport. Come postseason I am watching though.

you can always tell those that never played past little league. or coached even. but my problem with some of them is they knock the players or coaches when they are clearly wrong or it's just a player not making a play. hell, no one makes 'em all. and coaches damn sure make mistakes too but some of PM's moves aren't mistakes but the people that didn't play don't know that.
anyway, the new fan or casual fan has a place and most of them don't bother me. what I hate is GOING to a game with a buddy and he doesn't know shite about the game. comments like "neither of these teams can hit" in a pitchers duel as an example. drives me nuts.

Baseball is the only game which re-invents itself. It is inevitable some situation will arise that you had never seen and may not see again. Baseball is a cerebral game, football not so much

I am not a baseball fan, but I hate when people do this in football. If a final score is 10-7 or something and someone will say "that was a boring game, I was expecting better". I am sorry you just like watching people score touchdowns.. but that doesn't mean the game was bad..

Great game to knock things around.
And its REALLY easy to spot the ones who have NO idea what they are talking about.
Example: The guy that started the thread about Mainieri fricking up the no-no by sending him to bat

The few on here that were in attendance know that first hand............

Unless someone mentions a no-hitter, then everyone goes bananas.
At least the football crowd doesn't believe in ridiculous superstitions. Why is it that baseball fans are so superstitious about stuff like that? I've been a baseball fan all my life and never actually believed any of that.
Anyway, to the point, I think football fans are worse period, especially with LSU. The baseball fans have always come off as very knowledgeable, and the games are not a bunch of drunks yelling at a ref or player.

I'll admit that I am a fair weather baseball fan, but at least I don't post about it.
