That's crap man.

This is true equality.

I always said we get closer to equality is the day when unqualified black men get hired for jobs just because of their name or who they were born to. This is a step towards progress

Russillo said on Mike & Mike this morning that the only reason Magic got the position was he is Magic Johnson. Said that he had zero qualifications otherwise. Greenberg half assed agreed, Golic just grunted. Seems Russillo is the only one at ESPN that has any balls as he's seldom ESPN PC.

He got the job because he has a a 40+ year relationship with that family and because he was been their best employee that singlehandedly ushered in billions tonthat family and to the NBA.

Wow he got a job due to his relationship with someone. In our world we call that CONNECTIONS.

Great players don't make good coaches or GM's. The game came easy to them and it clouds how they teach the game and evaluate talent. Mitch Kupchak wasn't the problem it was Jim Buss. Lakers have a good young nucleus of talent.

Mitch Kupchak managed to lose Shaq & nearly lost Kobe who demanded to be traded after 2 years under this GM playing with Smush Parker,Walton ,Kwame Brown ,Odom ,etc..at his peak. And did I mentioned after Kobe he presided over the worst 4 seasons in Franchise history? 84 wins & 230 losses).

Like Dr Buss in 79 & Jerry West, Kupchak inherited a great situation with arguably the GOAT LAL ( Kobe) of all time.

And stop peddling this myth of great players not making good Coaches or Executives.

Off the top of my head :

Jerry West
Ozzie Newsome (HOF) & 2 time SB champion Executive.
Lenny Wilkens ( HOF player & Coach)
Bill Russell won title as Player/ Coach

Bill Sherman( Architect of ShowTime Lakers) HOF player & Coach

K.C. Jones( HOF) 2 NBA Rings as HC & a couple more as AC

Tom Heinsohn ( HOF as Player & Coach)

Mike Ditka( HOF) . He did win a SB

Dick Lebeau( think he's a HOF player)

Larry Bird seems competent.

There are only several hundred " Great" or HOF players , but hundreds of thousands of scrubs or average players looking for Gigs after they play.

Most greats simply have too many irons in the fire( Frank Gifford ,Strahan, Young, etc..) or too much money in the bank( Kobe Bryant,Manning,etc...) to be bothered with the headache.

You mean Magic was hugely responsible for taking the League out of tape delayed NBA Finals , earned the League & Buss Family Billions , etc....?

And Magic also proved himself as a 1st rate business Executive who started a Billion dollar Enterprise? (Some here claim what Magic did was relatively 'easy').

But Lebatard says it's because Magic is " charming' & basically knows how to shuck & jive that he owes his success/ opportunities.

Dr. Buss chose Jeannie as the most competent of his children to control the Lakers & she unfortunately gave her Brother/ Kupchak too much time to sink the organization.

She wanted a clean conscience before she & Magic emasculated her brother publicly.

This has what to do with knowing how to effectively be the president of basketball operations?

apparently all espn outlets are in a complete meltdown over this...

stephen A and wilbon blasted le batard. the espn local los angeles morning show called him racist, and now stugotz goes on mike n mike to retaliate.

it's really awesome to watch. i think after this whole fiasco, espn upper management need to look at themselves in the mirror and ask what have they created. they have hired personalities that do nothing but racebait, and now they are turning on one of their own. if i was president of espn, i send out a memo asap to immediately cease bringing up race into every single conversation. it's absolutely sickening. fwiw, i consider myself a liberal, and lean left on many social issues. but the race baiting in this country has gotten out of hand, and espn is one of the main culprits.

It is clear that this is what ESPN wants to do. I would love to know who at ESPN thought it would be a good business route to go the "McDonalds route" in terms of target audience.

espn has had a lot of success by using racial tension as subtext

first take was basically...watch all the black people take on skip Bayless

sports are stupid, sports talk is stupid and people who watch or listen to espn are brain dead retards.

mcdonalds targets black people as their biggest consumer...they want you to eat a hamburger though, they're not trying to stir you up.

conflict means ratings in television

it doesn't mean more hamburgers eaten

i live in los angeles and have a 30-40 minute drive to work every morning and have only been listening to espn radio for the last 7 years or so.

cowherd was ok, but snobby. when they replaced him with lebatard, i actually enjoyed the show alot at first. once the whole kaepernick/anthem ordeal happened, lebatard's racebaiting rhetoric really turned me off. interestingly enough, a month or so later espn LA pulled his show and replaced it with the morning show with sedano, keyshawn and LZ.

sedano is a solid host, and the show is enjoyable when they stay on topic, as they have a good mix of local and national sports news. however, all 3 (sedano not quite as much) are racebaiters, especially keyshawn, and the show is unlistenable at times. i seriously wonder how any type of executive can listen to some of their discussions and not cringe.

This all day. I've been a loyal Lebby listener since before the Big 3 formed, not sure how many years ago that was.

But the moment the Kaep stuff hit, all the race stuff in America really hit the sports world, and LeBatard ate it up, and the show suffered a great deal for it. During last season was the first time I really stopped listening to the podcasts regularly and just here and there instead.

And while I still love the show and agree that it's batshit absurd that this has become a race issue, like so many have said it's kind of funny happening to LeBatard, because he has completely tuned out white people when they talk about how tired they are of EVERYTHING being a race issue.

Not sure they care much about the topics, as long as there are ratings and they're staying out of trouble.

espn's programming has about as much to do with sports and entertainment as honey boo boo has to do with learning (TLC)and I haven't watched in years. I imagine it's probably worse.

i just wonder how some of the stuff keyshawn johnson says doesnt get him in trouble. he constantly brings up race and accuses peopleof being racist, but ironically enough, takes little latin/spanish jabs at Sedano.
