According to the flat earth theory if you wanted to fly along the equator wouldn't you actually have to be in constant right or left turn like a NASCAR track?

If you flew in a straight line you would go south east/west right?

Because they might accidentally fly through the hole in the ozone layer and get lost in space.

So lets say the earth is flat

What is the motivation for the lie and cover-up that the earth is round?

Does he believe it orbits around, as in above and below the flat earth, or rides above the edges in a circle?

If he believes it orbits above and below have him make a collect call to China at midnight and see if the sun is out, it should be under the earth.

If circles the edge it would be south every day at noon, not directly above.
If it were to circle the inner portion thus being directly above at noon, then it would be daylight everywhere.

I know a guy that legitimately thinks the government is keeping the people subdued by poisoning our drinking water with fluoride.

Straight out of A Brave New World, he thinks they are numbing our senses so we don't revolt.

Nevermind the fact that water that contains fluoride, contains trace amounts that do nothing to your brain. There would have to be an exponentially larger amount and it would still takes years of build up in your system.

He and I have argued this so many times. He gets offended if people don't believe him and will not stop talking about it until others are convinced or give up.

I've tried using logic with him.

He just points out some YouTube video a rapper I've never heard as proof of a flat earth and 3k distance to sun.

Only people who are very gullible.

However, there is a reasonable possibility that we did not land on the moon. I'm not saying I'm sure, just a possibility.

Exactly.

Besides, you can look at the moon, Mars and Venus (the latter with a telescope) and see that they are round. So do you really believe that the earth is flat?

I do believe in facts and science, contrary to one some say about me.

This makes no sense. One of the points they were making is that if the Earth was round, a plane should just hover? How would that account for N/S movement?

I know of millions of Christians who all believe in the teachings of the bible and therefore all believe that the earth is somewhere around 6,000 years old. They also believe God told some guy put 2 of each species of animal on earth in a big boat to avoid a flood and eventually these animals repopulated the earth. Some entire cultures believe that it's perfectly OK for adults to marry minors as young as 6 years old. People believe some stupid shite.
