Lost a tooth while eating pizza today, won't be too long before the rest rot out of my head. Yes I know I'm nasty and disgusting and trashy.

How much are they? Can you eat and drink like normal? Do they look decent? Recommend me a good dentist in BR who does this. Keep in mind, not an OT baller and don't have dental insurance.

I have a crown on one of my molars and I hate it. It's come loose once and is sensitive when eating chewier foods.

If you lost a tooth, I think you would need a bridge.

They are close to $1,600 EACH. I have never understood why dentistry is so expensive.

They feel "foreign" in your mouth for a while and eating may feel weird. Getting them on is usually a 2 visit process. 1st visit they will grind what's left of your tooth down to a little stump, take impressions, and give you a temporary. 2nd visit they will set the new crown over the stump.

You're not gonna like the costs you find. My last 2 crowns, 4 years ago, were about $900 a piece with insurance.

I have a crown on a molar following a root canal. No issues from it. Works like a normal tooth no issues with loosening. Been about 10 years ish.

No idea of the cost (parents paid for it at the time).

No dentist but yeah if you lost a tooth completely then you would need a bridge or implant($$$) I would think.

I just had two crowns put in, post root canal and it cost $2400 total. That's with a friends of the dentist deal. Floss people!

Hood Dental in Denham offers payment plans I believe. So I'm sure there's bound to be others that operate in the same manner.

If you truly lost a tooth, there is nothing left for a crown.

An implant is what you will be considering. Those are typically $4,000 per tooth.

Lots of incorrect information floated here.

1. Insurance will usually pay a percentage of the cost when crowns are used to restore procedure damaged/decayed teeth, it is not just a cosmetic procedure.

2. Using a bridge to replace a missing tooth, requires modification of other health teeth, a implant while expensive is usually the best option.

3. Crowns are not always a multi visit process if your dentist has modern equipment, they can scan the prepped tooth and mill a ceramic crown while you wait.

Just got a crown on Monday. The temp is in there now and I go back in two weeks for the permanent. I have insurance and my out of pocket was $450. The cost without was around $980.

I went to Dr. Collins at Sherwood Dental. He did a good job. I felt no pain the day after which was yesterday.

I just got one on a top molar about two weeks ago. I've still got the temp in, but they just called and said my permanent is in. The temp feels kind of funny, so I'm hoping the permanent one will be better. I think I paid about $600 out-of-pocket. That's with my insurance covering 60% of the cost

How lazy do you have to be to not take care of your teeth?

Cracked a back tooth a couple years ago on a piece of bone in some shredded BBQ chicken. Got a root canal and a porcelain crown and it's just like a normal tooth. Once the slickness goes away you can hardly tell which one it is.

Certainly sucks but don't see how this is trashy to have a crown, shite happens.

ETA: was about 2k for the whole thing, insurance covered part of the root canal but not the crown. My dentist had the machine as well that cuts it on site
