California will vote on secession in 2019. Although only a referendum, it could set into motion a serious effort by several states to form a separate country. This would be more likely if the Trump administration withholds money from states that refuse to abide by federal law (which he should). It will be interesting. We could see a de facto split with unpredictable consequences.

Wrong brother. The right is already organized and armed.The left will run head on into that realization far to soon. With the current violence coming from the left and there intense fight to stop all ideology not agreed with by the left,the war is unavoidable in my opinion. OP is pathetic as are all Americans who think we are headed to a civil war. We tried that once and over 600K Americans died.
We ARE politically divided but it has been that way for several years. And we have been politically divided before and not plunged into civil war.

We are not gonna have secession of any state now or in the immediate future. The Calexit folks are a minority of Californians just as the Texas and Georgia secessionists of the 2009-2010 era were.
Most states have sizable populations who disagree with the majority politics of their state. 38% of Louisiana's voters in 2016 voted for Clinton and HRC carried three of the four most populous parishes in the state (Orleans, EBR, and Caddo).
If a state were to secede, the civil unrest among residents of that state would be tremendous.

I don't think the U.S. will have a civil war in our lifetimes. However, if one broke out it wouldn't be a north south thing, it would be a coast vs interior type thing.
