That quote is attributed to Miriam Ferguson, and even the validity of that is in question.

It's got nothing to do with Ann Richards.

Did she actually oppose the teaching of Spanish, or did she simply oppose having schools generally conducting classes in Spanish? It's hard to imagine anyone being opposed to foreign languages being taught in schools.

I say this as a church-going Christian, but the Texas BOE is a trainwreck of nutjobs. It could've actually been worse if that crazy facebooking grandma from East Texas had won back in November. She was dangerously close.
