I'm terrified of them.

It's appalling the things I see right now, and the media is all for it.

Look around you. Stop viewing your countrymen through the lens of media propaganda.

I know a lot of liberals. I work with them. I laugh with them. Life goes on. They aren't in the streets tearing America apart.

It's very sad. As you said it should be apolitical more than any position in government. She has done her service and should spend the rest of her days doing whatever makes her happy. She didn't do that while Obama would choose her successor so I'm confident she won't do it with Trump picking.

I do too, and for the most part you are right.

Then you come across what seem to be normal people that have gone off the deep end.

The old lady on the plane berating a Trump supporter, the guy harassing Ivanka on the plane, my mother inlaw is convinced she will die in the next 4 years because of health care, etc, etc.

It's crazy.

I'll say I like having some balance in the SC and a compromise here appeals to me more than trying to PACK it with ultra conservative (I'd say the same on the other side)

They have no leverage NOW. That will change and we will all regret it.

This. I think the OP deal is a great one and would prevent headaches in the future while still shifting the USSC more to the center/right.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) panned President Trump's nominee for the Supreme Court, calling him a "hostile appointment."

"This is a very bad decision, well outside the mainstream of American political thought," she said of newly minted nominee Neil Gorsuch during a CNN town hall Tuesday. "It's a very hostile appointment."

"Elections have ramifications and here is a living, breathing representation of it," added Pelosi.

Pelosi said House Democrats would support their Senate counterparts in how they handle the nomination - some have called expressed openness to his nomination, while others, like Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) are already prepared to vote against him.

frick them...it's time to bury these hacks.

If I were the Dem decision maker on that I may not accept that exact configuration but I bet we could come up with something. Might want someone a little more centrist than Pryor.

Well I'm just looking at the overall picture. If out the Trump Presidency we got Gorsuch, Garland, and a true centrist I would take that deal considering the circumstances.

that's fair and reasonable

i just think many progs will hold that RBG spot as literally sacred and it will take a legit prog to replace her, and not a moderate like Garland. i only want him to be the nom to see the DEMs shite on him after praising him for a year+

And that's why you don't do a deal like that if you are a conservative.

It's a no lose deal for the Left...they love that deal.

It's possible which is why it's even more important not to die on the hill over Scalia's seat. It gives you that leg to stand on later.

It's a no win deal but it manages the damage and preserves the fillabuster.

oh the DEMs clearly lose in this trade. the GOP wins big. i fully admit that

but they lose less than what they're risking, which is why i felt it was a reasonable discussion point
