surprised this method hasn't been used before...

Here is video from the ATM theft early last Friday morning at the Red River Federal Credit Union branch in the 2700 block of University Avenue. As you can see, it was planned out well and executed in a matter of minutes. We need your help on this one. If you have any information, please call police at 903-798-3116 or CrimeStoppers at 903-793-STOP.

getting the atm is the easy part, opening it up is where it will get tricky.
That was well planned and the guy drove the skylift like he knew how to use it.

Are they going to get that much money from it?

Son of a bitch. Dude definitely had experience with a lift.

I wonder how much money a freshly loaded atm has in it?

I worked at a bank years ago, mid 2000's. I would load $250,000 in every Friday. Armored car would drop the cash, I would count it then load the machine. 5 drawers of all $20s. It took about 45 mins to count and load it.

Times consuming for sure.
Getting rid of the evidence later might prove tricky too. Can't just dump those things in a dumpster or on the side of the road.
I say side of the road because that is how some high school friends got busted after robbing a safe.

Wow. I was thinking maybe 50k at a busy atm in a city, not 250k!

Only one drop per week so it had to last. This was at a very busy bank in Baton Rouge. If you ever try to get money out of an atm and it is down for maintenance, that is why.

Look for the teller whose boyfriend works in construction.

I was in the Drive Thru the other day and a teller walked out and opened the ATM, she loaded the SOB full.
Seems to be that would have been the way to rob a bank/ATM. Just case the joint until you get the schedule down and wait until she goes to stock it.
I had no idea they had $250k in them.
This was at a branch out of town too so you could rob it and be gone in no time.

you just made the list

It doesn't necessarily have 250k in it. I've worked at credit unions where the max an ATM had was maybe 100k.

Did that guy not have gloves on? If so I'm guessing that got some fingerprints.

I agree. My location was very busy for withdrawals and check cashing. Not your typical loan office or financial advisor spot. Cash was a premium so we stocked more than most. So locations can take two drops a week so they can hold less at a time.

You think they planned everything else out and didn't wear gloves?

You would think an ATM would have some Fail safe, like a 'large force' would trigger a mechanism that released dye packs onto the money or something along those lines.
Ironic that I just finished watching the movie Hell or High Water (about 2 bank robbers), and have been looking up things to do in Texarkana next week while my dog has surgery there... And now I see this threat right after
