That was never the debate. It's a common enough occurrence that it warrants growing representation.

seems like half of the commercials now of IR(primarily black w/ white) and that is definitely not representative of this country.

You have numbers to back that up?

Even if you did (you don't), so what? Stupid thing to get hung up over, tbh, if you think about it.

My kids have friends over alot and most are in single parent homes and none are of mixed race. We've had probably 20 or so of their friends over and either 3 or 4 have both parents together. Mind blowing seeing all these kids in single parent homes.

Ummm, ok? Random tangent

My only issue is that I always hate forced social themes, whether in movies or in commercials.

If it adds an element to the story that distracts from the plot, but is irrelevant to the actual story then it is a bad move.
You think that an IR or gay relationship should only be shown on TV if it furthers a plot point?! How is that not worse than just tossing in a random non-'mainstream' element for the hell of it?

Anecdotally, it does seem as if most representations are of the black male/white woman pairing, which is not the most common interracial pairing in the U.S.

You don't think marriage laws are political?

All laws have a degree of politics behind them.

My point is that IR marriage isn't a political football in American politics, nor has it been for quite some time. It's not an issue over which party lines get drawn. No one side has a monopoly.

That's cute.

I guess it might be true if you go back a few hundred generations.

The vast majority of people are boring, and nobody wants to put them on TV. Why aren't people complaining that the characters on "The Big Bang Theory" don't represent the majority of us? You know anybody that geeky? We watch outliers.

I think there's a bit of confirmation bias going on here, because I haven't noticed this.

So it sounds like two-parent homes are rare these days. Why aren't we complaining about all the two-parent homes on TV not being representative of this country?

So are you

And "white" is a relatively new thing in the whole scope of human history. Every other range of skin tone is much older.

Exactly, Roger. It took a long time to breed out all the impurities, and now these damned commercials want us to mix it all up again.

I feel so forced.

I find it heartwarming when the rational, science grounded atheists find common ground with the Jesus loves us all, made in his image, religious fanatics. It gives me warm fuzzies.

I thought it was white male/Asian woman, but it could be white/latino(a). The stats are so skewed when it comes to Latinos in the U.S.

Seriously? No society in the history of the world maintained dominance when their main race began to go down. This is last hoorah of the USA in the next couple decades. When the white majority ends, so will this nation.

Now HERE'S a racist that owns it.
