That might not be true for TOYOTA. I've found it usually isn't worth buying late model used one vs a brand new car. A few years ago I bought my daughter a new Corolla S for $3500 more than a used one with a cheaper package with 24,000 miles. When it comes to The Big 3 "American" brands then yes you come out much better used. By the way, the Corolla is now 10 years old. She sold it to her brother. It's got around 150,000 miles. No repairs

Damn, sounds like your son got the shaft in that deal.

Sister gets brand new car for free, then the brother gets nothing and has to pay for the sisters old car?

Don't try buying a truck or SUV with that mindset.
