So how do you feel about more faithless electors flushing shitlery down the toilet for faith spotted eagle and the like.... Than repubs dumped trump?
Especially after all the bitching. Complaining. Sky is falling rhetoric spewed fourth by the left this past month?
Thst HAD to sting more than shitlery's original loss. Eh?

Lol. I kind of figured it was both, but I didn't want to put words in your mouth.

Speaking of newsworthy, you must have missed all of the news about recounts, russian election rigging, and faithless electors.
It is pretty silly actually.

You are making the same arguments against the EC that the Bernouts used against the super delegates. The rules were in place before the election. Trump won using those rules.

Consider this: I am a liberal who voted for HRC who is posting on a board where 80% of the people here are Trump fanatics. Don't you think you are going to have to try a bit harder to hurt my feelings?

2.9 million. It came from NY and CA. Without those two states Trump won by won by 3,000,000.

Trump isn't helping either when he says he won in a landslide.
You deal with it. Electoral college is going nowhere. Take away CA and New York and she was down 3 million.
But... popular vote count is totally meaningless.
She dropped 30 states. She was swept up and tossed aside by the only meaningful statistic.
The House and the Senate are under control and soon Scotus will be under control.
But keep telling yourself there isn't a problem and it wasn't a landslide.

It's so they can claim he doesn't have a mandate and therefore they don't believe republicans should support his agendas in efforts because his vote wasn't a mandate. We control every fricking thing, republicans absolutely have a mandate. Go fricking Nuclear. frick em

My first post after election day on this forum was an OP titled "It's time to get behind President Donald Trump".

We have a President who won the election by a substantial electoral college margin. This same person lost the popular vote by a non-trivial margin (millions).
Actually, it was a 2% margin of defeat in the popular vote. Millions, yes, but a statistically trivial margin, tbh.

From a data science perspective, the correlation discrepancy between the two data points is HISTORICALLY disparate. As a science guy and as someone who has always been interested in politics I find that fascinating. As do many others.
This makes sense, and I'll grant you that
Most everyone else on the left I've seen bandying this about has done so with a decided bent to delegitimize the result.
If that's not you, then I misread ya. I apologize.

It was a legitimate question to you. How does it feel, after a month of whining and bitching, to be slapped across the face by the big dick of irony?

Read: I am an idiot who votes for corruption and status quo.

Then why are you touting the popular vote? The popular vote is like stats in a football game, when the Electoral votes are the points on the scoreboard?

I'm rarely legit confused on here but the reaction to my inane posts stating that this event is statistically interesting has been surprising in its intensity even on TD poli standards.
quote:2% isn't "trivial" statistically but I do agree that it isn't outrageous. Still, it is unprecedented to have such a margin in PV and EV results..

You forget one thing- it's not a party, it's the goddamm news.
Fake news.
The popular vote is not only irrelevant, it isn't really a thing. The "popular" vote within each state is a thing. But, the national popular vote is statistical navel gazing. Signifies nothing. There was never a race or contest for that vote (no matter how much the progressive left/Democrat party/Fake news syndicate wants it to be - this time) - so any aggregation or statistical analysis is either an academic exercise or a waste of time.

The popular vote doesn't exist on the national level. The only true victory is the electoral college and Trump won that bigly.

quote:When did I start a thread complaining about the popular vote? All I have said on the subject is that it is ridiculous to expect this to not be discussed or covered on the news. I believe the report in question occurred when the numbers became official and final. Several people here *cough* wolfhound!...are equating my defending this being covered as a reasonable news story with me delegitimizing the results.
Then why are you touting the popular vote?
An emotional response...Sadly, I expect nothing less.
I post here because I don't like to surround myself with people who agree with me. I am used to the abuse...
To dovetail on your football analogy, if a team lost the superbowl while outgaining the other team in yards and winning the turnover ratio it would be mentioned repeatedly in the coverage of said game.

You've cracked the code! Take away the highest populated blue states and the PV results are suddenly different. Why hasn't anyone else thought of this?

If you win a football game by four touchdowns while being outgained, it's still a blowout
