US Aligned with Sunni Terrorists in Syria, CIA Out of Control... Again

SOFREP article, trustworthy sources.
quote:
Elizabeth O’Bagy, a young researcher with the Institute for the Study of War, helped bring America to the brink of war in 2013. Making fraudulent claims of having obtained a PhD, she was a fervent supporter of military intervention in Syria after she allegedly met with Syrian rebel groups. Her public testimony was fawned over by Senator John McCain and Secretary of State John Kerry, who used her fake credentials to backstop their march toward another military action in the Middle East. While portraying herself as an unbiased researcher, O’Bagy was also doing paid work for a pro-Syrian rebel lobbyist group called the Syrian Emergency Task Force. When O’Bagy was exposed, the house of cards came crumbling down. O’Bagy was fired from the Institute for the Study of War, but was quickly hired as a legislative assistant by Senator McCain.
quote:
The problem is that it is highly debatable as to whether there are any moderate rebels in Syria. There is little if any ideological white space between groups like ISIS, al-Nusra, and Ahrar al-Sham. Their differences are mainly ones of fitna, or internal strife, over who gets to be in charge of what, not disagreements about jihad. Each of these groups wants sharia law in the end and believes that the Assad regime has to be removed in order to institute their caliphate. One has to wonder if there are any women working at the Brookings Institute, the Shaikh Group, and the Middle Eastern Institute. If so, how do they feel about America potentially supporting groups who endorse sharia law, which doesn’t exactly favor women’s rights?
quote:
It is curious that Lister supports Ahrar al-Sham, which has been sponsored and used as a proxy force by countries such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and more importantly in this case, by Qatar, the country that hosts organizations Lister is or has been affiliated with, such as Brookings Doha and the Shaikh Group. Lister positions himself as an expert on Syrian rebel groups, but it is clear that he is taking his interviews with rebel commanders at face value. U.S. Special Forces soldiers on the ground in Turkey and Jordan have told SOFREP that rebels provide cookie cutter answers to their questions and know exactly what to say in order to make themselves appear secular. Lister says that weapons should be provided to groups vetted by the CIA, but that vetting process is disastrous and consists of nothing more than trace searches in databases that are far from comprehensive.

If you want to understand the middle east a little better, research who created wahabism and what they are being used for today.

I trust your insight on this quagmire more than anyone else on here.
Do you think that the choices 'we' made are the result of overconfidence and arrogance about outcome, or are the State Department and Pentagon that hell-bent on ousting non USG friendlies that they don't give a frick about power vacuums filled with worse people?

Power struggle in DC among war mongers that resulted in a stunted attempt to overthrow Asaad. The CIA is totally off leash and has been for 60 years. Nobody has oversight on them and every single middle manager is just trying to get promoted to the next office up. The ground level contractors are just there for the $$ and senior leaders are all in for overthrowing whoever the MIC wants.
Senate and HOR are rotten to the core and full of neocons and warmongers on right and left, most of them put there by the MIC, at least in part.
the state department is the most neglected and talentless government institution in the entire government. They are hard leftists and marxist ideologues who are not opposed to leaning on military action as a measure of first resort. they love regime change. their political philosophy is built on violence and regime change followed by deadly purges and pogroms.
the military, especially Special Forces, was created for exactly the purpose of overthrowing governments. SF commanders aren't going to say "No" to that mission, they have been pushing it hard and it's failed at all levels.
ground troops are telling the truth and nobody is listening.
McCain needs to he tried and imprisoned for his role in this.

Not conventionally. Unconventionally they have been very active. Not that I think that justifies USG stupidity.

You know very well who is driving our agenda in the middle east, they have the most powerful lobby in Washington, and they receive billions in help from the American taxpayer.

I know they are probably the biggest player, but they are not the only one.
of course they are the only one you can't talk about... so there is that...

That's about what I thought, unfortunately. We are captured at the highest levels with little recourse for ending it.
I assume you wouldn't suggest enlistment for a man who is quickly growing bored with law school? I've got an itch and I don't know how to scratch it.

She works for the usual suspects, I bet we could find her name in a mossad database as an asset.
