OT fitness crew- best heart rate monitors out there?

I do a lot of interval training which requires me to monitor my heart rate closely and my heart rate determines when I begin my next set or exercise.
I don't care about tracking calories burned, distances walked/ran, etc. Just want an accurate HR reading on a device that I can comfortably workout with.
Suggestions?

Garmin watch with HR strap. You can spend as much or as little as you want to spend.

But if you are doing intervals and not a lot of steady state running then I would stay away from the HR wrist-based monitors. There is a slight delay with the HR reading. Just get one with a chest strap.

Second the wrist monitors.. my HR goes to shite when doing crossfit with my iWatch.. ive read up on some earbuds that double as a HR monitor as well and are supposed to be the most accurate way to measure but they weren't cheap either

Wahoo tickr. I think there's one that you don't even need a compatible watch. You can Bluetooth connect to a phone. Otherwise, Garmin makes some nice watches.
I've got the Wahoo Tickr X and a Garmin forerunner watch. You can see tons of metrics. Some are advanced enough to estimate VO2 max which is a good metric for interval training.

I haven't used the Garmins, but I like my Polar FT7

I've had good luck with a Garmin watch and a polar chest strap. Garmin had issues with their straps that they may have fixed now, but the polars worked better for me.

No, I don't live in Louisiana anymore and have no idea who that is.
Sounds like you're the guy who watches the in shape runner and gets jealous because you're fat.
