Absolute golden opportunity not only for his first term, but for Republicans with blacks in general.

Insane how Obama administration dropped the ball on that issue.

Gives him a prime opportunity to show how ineffective govt has been and how the Dems have just given lip service.

I think he will do a lot of things like this to help out the common folk. It just sucks his hands are more or less tied until January.

You actually want the president to handle local issues? It's not the president's job to handle every little issue in the country. That's why you have local and state govt.

I would have a list of "infrastructure jobs" that he plans to work on over the first couple years. On that list is Flint since the locals are not capable and we are kicking this off right here as OUR citizens are at risk.

I made a thread a few days ago about what republicans can do to keep getting some of the black vote.

I 100% believe that the republican platform represents FAR FAR more than 8% of black people rather than the party of transgender weirdos.

It's not even about flipping the ratio it's about getting the message and making it competitive. I'm really proud that trump made a point to campaign and work for their vote.

I told Mrs. Pimp this earlier in the week. It's a no-brainer. He should fix it, and fix it under budget and point out every flaw in the normal government process. He should be audacious and have some variation on a "50 projects in 50 states" kind of initiative, and get local people involved as much as possible.

Then he should force the Mexicans to pay for it.

I agree but you know damn well the Dems will spin it as pandering to the blacks.

He could publicly invite Michael Moore to help fix he issue - make Moore agree and then he'd be assured to receive a lot of credit.

So many ways to play this.

I don't think OP is suggesting that Trump personally goes to Flynt and fixes the water.

If trump dedicates some real resources to the situation with some hard deadlines than I think it will go along way with the folks in Flynt.

I don't think he needs to step in every 'little' local issue.. but this is neither little nor local. A communities access to safe water is a huge thing and our countries crumbling infrastructure is a national issue

not a bad idea

no excuse for 3rd world conditions anywhere in the US

Fixing targeted problems here and there wouldn't be all that costly.

Of course if he did one a zillion more would pop up.

Flint could be fixed for a relatively small amount of money

But would gain huge political capital

You want the President of the U.S. fixing a metropolitan water supply?

We want smaller fed govt not taking care of parking meters
