Is this for real? I'm looking to get a 43in soon for my new house....I've been looking at Vizio with SmartCast vs not SmartCast (aka with tuner vs no tuner).....I'm leaning toward going with the tuner model although it is the lower series.

don't buy smart anything on tv's. save the money and buy the same version without the smart features, then get an amazon firetv, firestick, or roku.....or, i guess, an appletv if you're a sucker.

What are you casting with? Either way, a tv with cec and a streaming device are better.

I currently have a Roku, but thought it would better faster smarter to get a smart tv. They seem to be all the rage. No?

I like some smart tv features but with the exception of the Roku tvs the ui and apps are pretty horrible across the board.

Totally agree. It's like buying a combination TV and DVR--you get a mediocre TV married to a mediocre DVR.

I'd go with the Smart T.V.

You'd have the smart cast 6-8 weeks max until the break heals and after that it's just a huge waste of money.

Smart Cast is just Vizio's proprietary brand of Google Cast. Effectively it is a television input with a Chromecast built in, if that makes sense.

I tend to use the dumb remote, a Roku 4 for most things and a Fire Stick for Kodi.

If I had it to do all over again, I might have gone with an Android box (NVIDIA Shield) and done Kodi in the same box. I do like the Roku interface - by far the best, IMHO.

so what I am hearing is even though smart TV sounds like the latest and greatest. Stick with buying the best TV for your $$ and then have a compliment (firestick, roku, etc.)

The boxes are always going to do better than the set makers - that's just a fact. The only one really trying is Sony with Android TV.

I have a Samsung smart TV and a roku. I like the Samsung interface wayyyyy better than the Roku. Don't know how much more I paid for the TV to be a smart version, but I much prefer it.
