The bandwagon got pretty big overnight. Apparently everyone and their mother has been waiting for this night since they saw the 1908 championship in person.

People are funny.

Championships always bring on the bandwagon fans. I like the story behind the championship. Couldn't care less who won it though.

No

I think there were a lot of people who wanted to witness history and see them win, but they aren't fans and won't be rooting for them after last night.

No way Jose. But I am a baseball fan, and what I just watched was thrilling.

I think a lot of people wanted to witness history and don't underestimate WGN. A lot of people across the country grew up watching the Cubs.

My dad went to Wrigley on a business trip this summer. Now the Cubs are his favorite team ever.

I went to Chicago when I was 4 and got a Cubs hat. Totally my favorite team. Just like the Braves in the 90's, The Red Sox in the mid 2000's, and the Yankees pretty much any other year.

I just enjoyed the game but I do have a good friend, that has been a Cubs fan for thousands of minutes. Nobody calls my buddy Black Bush Pete a bandwagoner.

Just a sports fan.

I love a great game.

Non Saints fans-myself included-were happy to see y'all win your super bowl.

As a Saints fan, I would think you could appreciate the Cubs fans moment here

Not a big Cubs fan and was pulling for the Indians, but it was good to see them win.

I grew up watching the Cubs on WGN TV.

I'm sure there are. Plenty of them popped up on my twitter feed recently.

As a long time cardinals fan, I was conflicted this whole series. Love seeing them lose, but I somewhat know the agony of being a part of a long suffering fanbase (Saints) and I remember how great '09 felt. Plus, best team all year. They deserved it.

I was rooting for Cleveland last night. Almost started rooting for the Cubs when I saw Lebron pretending like he's an Indians fan though

Well...here's my story.

Dear diary...

I grew up watching the Cubs back in the early 80's outside of NOLA on Cox where we had WGN. Those were the Ryne Sandberg, Sarge, Rick Sutcliffe, Andre Dawn, Leon Durham, Lee Smith, and eventually Mark Grace Cubbies of the 80's. I was playing a ton of baseball at the time so getting to watch baseball nearly every afternoon because they were not yet playing night games at Wrigley was great. Seeing those games felt like a local look into this coll thing far away...and since the Cubs weren't very good for much of that time they were my own little thing at school and at practice where no one else had adopted them. Plus, my grandmother lived with us then and she watched most games with me wearing a Cubs cap and loving Harry Carey.

But when I went to school at USL back in the fall of '88, I lost touch with them because Lafayette did not and still does not have WGN on Cox. I never became a fan but I enjoyed watching the Braves pitching staff featuring former Cub, Greg Maddux, during those years. And then after the strike and following Maguire/Sosa home run drugged up season I quit paying much attention to baseball.

So...it was strange for me to see them do so well this year. Deep down I have always still felt like a Cubs fan, but I lost touch with them a long time ago. I did start following them towards the end of the season and followed them completely through the post season. Felt nice, and I did get a ton of enjoyment out of seeing them finally pull though. Hard to imagine those lazy summer afternoons sitting in the living room watching the Cubs with my grandmother hoping they'd finally make that push.

Not sure what that makes me...

Only half the board. The other half seems to have jumped on the Cubs hate bandwagon.

Let's make a bunch of threads calling them out also.
