I've never been to a game day and have the opportunity to campout with some friend Friday for Gameday. They've also never done it and we are looking for some advice on what to do, where to go, what to bring, when to get there etc. I know there is some confusion right now on where they are going to set up( although they may have already established this and I'm just not aware). So, I'm really just looking for some advice from those with experience with this and is anyone else planning on camping out as well?

The only thing you really NEED is alcohol. The rest all depends on how comfortable you want to be.

I'm camping out as well. Never done it before but I'll be there around 10pm with my signs and lots of beer.

I'll suggest a good lantern type light and a deck of cards.

I camped out for the Ole Miss gameday two years ago (and the OU b-ball game last year). We legit did not sleep at Gameday, and ended up really pissed and tired by the time Gameday actually happened.

Things to bring: booze, small ice chest, small tent, sleeping bag, folding chair, deck of cards or other entertainment (also good for drinking games).

Actually sleep, this will be a big deal, but wake up and get your shite packed away before 5 am because that's when everyone just shows up and tries to cut into the line that forms.

Seriously if you aren't there by tomorrow, just don't show up.

what to do, where to go, what to bring, when to get there

What to do? Go have a good time. How old are you?

Where to go? The parade grounds is where you'll want to set up.

What to bring? A tent, toothbrush, water to brush you fonky arse mouth in the am, sleeping bag, beer, food and cooking equipment if you plan on cooking.

When to get there? Anytime Friday night. You won't have any issues finding a spot friday, so just whenever y'all feel like getting out there and starting to soak it all in.

At the parade grounds you literally have everything right there at your disposal.

Student union is a 2 minute walk away. Clean bathrooms, food to eat. Also, not far from you is Chimes, buffalo wild wings, barcadia, a CVS and gas station if y'all want to eat Friday night or forget something and need to pick it up quickly.

Advice for game day. Soak it in Friday night, but get you some sleep. Unless you can stay awake for 48 hrs with little to no sleep. Otherwise 7:00 game time will come and you'll feel like death. The game is the reason for all of this, don't miss out on that.

If your goal is to get in the front of game day set then you'll probably have to start getting in line around 6ish. However, the crowd will dictate the time the line starts forming. Just know, inside the game day set is hot, crowded and you can't bring alcohol. That is enough for me to not do it. I'll probably go check it out, but hang out on the outside.

What else you need to know? I've done it tons of times and camped out a bunch.

My advice is not to attempt to get into the fenced in area right behind the GameDay stage. There are too many rules you have to follow. You can bring in signs, but not mounted on anything. So its really tough to get any air time for a sign if you've spent a lot work creating. You also cannot bring any bottles (even if its water) inside that area either, people have thrown bottles in the past at GameDay staff.

My wife and I had much more fun staying on the outside of the fence. If you have a sign you want on TV, get something tall to mount it on and position yourself behind Kirk Herbstreit. He gets the most face time of any commentators behind the desk, and I've gotten a lot of TV time for my signs by positioning myself to where my sign is right over his left or right shoulder.

Also, if you're planning on going to the game don't yell too much! Save your voice for the Alabama Offence. If I leave an LSU game with the ability to talk I don't feel like I did my job as a Tiger fan.

Have fun!

Would getting there at 5:30 AM Saturday morning be too late?

Are the parade grounds still the place sleep or on the quad?
