I thought the that a mid point to BR airport may be a good idea in the past, but not so much now. First off MSY already gets 80% of flights in the state, and moving closer to BTR probably wouldn't make much of a difference. Also MSY is the major airport for the entire gulf coast region, not just southeast La. If you move it further west, you are also moving it further away from places like gulfport/biloxi, mobile, and even pensacola who also use MSY as their primary airport.

GPT and PNS have improved significantly over the last 10 years.
Living on the North Side I always look to GPT before MSY. Much easier commute and less BS than dealing with MSY.
