re: Can LSU beat Bama without big plays?

We can make big plays both running and passing if we can establish an effective passing game early. Short of that, it seems unlikely. By establishing the passing game we can gash them for some chunks of yards by exploiting running lanes created by an aggressive pass rush (particularly in zone blocking schemes, and Guice is a *great* zone runner), which in turn makes the defense wary of the run, and puts us in a good position to throw again, since Allen can't just tee off on the pass rush. We have to play a balanced game. A very balanced game. I think we can do it, but man, we gotta play straight up assignment football.

Agree. As with the Ole Miss game, get the ball to them quickly outside to make Alabama's big interior guys run hard and hopefully tire themselves, and hopefully get Fournette/Guice (especially Fournette) one on one opportunities against Alabama defensive backs. If he breaks one tackle in 3-4 attempts it could be for a huge gain.

One thing that this team is doing very well so far is playing assignment FB. On top of that, they've been winning their one on ones and beating blocks. Beckwith and company will have to carry that into this game against the stoutest of competition but their high level of play thus far tells me that they should be up to that challenge.
This will be a great game for Tiger fans. It'll take another refgate for the gumps to survive this one.

I think the big plays in this one are going to come from the defensive sides of the ball. Timely Fumbles or INTs will decide this game.

D needs to be on. I think Ole Piss is the best offense we've seen to date BUT they cant really run. I think the question isn't what does our Offense need to do but can we shut down Bama's run and make Hurts throw. The guy didnt have a single long completion going into the aTm game.

Yes... but only if we out-score them.
