A stupid, parochial point of view and one of the attitudes that adversely affects Louisiana and other areas of the South.

I mean, let's take this to an absurdist conclusion. Saban is from WV, which was a Northern State during the Civil War after its admission to the Union. Therefore, he is a Yankee. Therefore, you'd rather have some schoe from Livingston Parish as the head coach than Saban. Stupid.

I think viewing it as a dispositive factor is incorrect

Not sure what that means but I am just saying its a plus for a coach to have roots in fertile recruiting areas.

Lots of programs have gone down the tubes adopting a parochial hiring rule for head coaches.
Da Coach O is a good position coach, and great recruiter and motivator.
If we are smart we hire him and use him according to his talents and find the best HC available, regardless of race, religion, place of birth or accent.

Anything short of an SEC title and he shouldn't be in the top 3. LSU has a lot of talent and can't afford to screw this hire up.

you might as well fire him now. that's utter bull shite to put that restriction on him getting the job. there are so many other variables that need to be considered.

look carefully at the last 5 games on our schedule. there is not a coach in America that would win all 5 of those games. maybe saban; maybe meyer. but these so called genius's being talked about on here, Herman and Fisher; they damn sure wouldn't win all 5 of them.

If you can't get it done at Texas with it's money and recruiting grounds, then it definitely won't happen at LSU....bottom line....

Let's be honest, besides Ole Miss....coach O was never given a chance ....USC dropped him because of his voice...USC had been in a slump ever since the recruiting violations....

Because the majority of people on this board are retards.

You and the OP are retarded. If I said I love a red Dodge Viper, would you similarly whine that the paint job doesn't matter because it doesn't make the car faster? No. People liking O because he's "one of us" is a personal preference. What's wrong with cheering for a local guy to be successful?

Gonna be a few disappointed people on this board when O is announced permanent HC of LSU.

It's real simple and doesn't deserve 50 threads a day. If he wins out or close to it, he will be the coach. If he looks bad or has a bad ending record, we will have new coach.

Some people get so bent out of shape and we are 2 games in. Let it play out.

Because these people are a bunch of stuck up snobs....they want the prestige of a young up and coming head coach....Coach O just doesn't fit their phony persona....

Coach O > Saban

anyone believes CLM was an average coach at best surrounded by great talent there is no reason not to think Coach O can do the same if not better than Miles did over the long term.

That's what I've been saying. You see a lot of fans posting Miles sucked as a coach, was lucky, anyone can recruit and win 10 games here. So why can't orgeron? Or are they actually admitting Miles was a damn good coach?

Despite what Miles has said, sometimes it seems like he was just here for the money and wanted to milk the cow for as long as possible.

He turned down more money to stay at LSU.

Miles would have been exposed at any other school......he was allowed to stay here as long as he did because the superstar talent on this team carried him & his weak offensive game plans....

If he proves he can win he will be an amazing fit at LSU. Recruiting will come very easily in state and the players love to play for him. All these people that don't want O are too enamored with the flavor of the month coaches. Don't get me wrong though I'd love to have a Tom Herman. Jimbo on the other hand doesn't get me pumped up especially since his price tag will be outrageous. People will say he won a NC, but the team he beat was the weakest SEC team to make the NC. Auburn should of had at least 2 losses before the national championship and a possible 3rd if they didn't have miracles happen.

Not joining the O lovefest at this time makes me all superior acting?

To this point in time, O hasn't done anything to make me believe he is a top level head coach option for the LSU opening. If that upsets you, tough.

What Coach O did at Ole Miss I DGAF

That's right, lets not look at head coaches only real head coaching experience when judging his ability to be a head coach at LSU. Are you for real?

from 3-2

Not just no, but HELL NO. O has a less than 40% winning percentage as a head coach. You might not want consider such a thing as past coaching results as the man in charge of a program for more than a few games, but LSU most certainly will.

Before the season started we were thought to the be the best or one of the best teams in the country. So it's not ridiculous think LSU can beat Bama at home.
