How is "Coach O being one of us" relevant to winning games?

It seems I read that quote daily on here. I'm all for coach O getting a chance if he wins out but him being from south Louisiana should have nothing to do with that decision. I would much rather a proven hire but if he wins out he deserves a shot.

I think having someone that understands the culture and the traditions of LSU is a plus. Just an added good characteristic. He definitely understood the frustrations of fans watching a Miles offense and made changes.

However in the end winning is all that really counts.

because if he wins out, he'll get the job, and we're rooting for LSU to win out.

I don't think anyone's advocating for him if he goes x-3

Having coached at Miami under Jimmy Johnson and Dennis Erickson and USC under Pete Carroll is even more impressive to me. Being from Louisiana is just a bonus.

The man knows big time football.

Anything short of an SEC title and he shouldn't be in the top 3. LSU has a lot of talent and can't afford to screw this hire up.

Who are your top 3 minus Herman?

I completely agree with you. Typical Louisiana nepotism extended to the team.

One caveat though. Having a coach that is from Louisiana and that was an LSU fan before he became head coach means that no one will ever really have to worry about him skipping town for his alma mater, hometown/favorite team(Urban Meyer) or the pros(Saban).

Why minus Herman? The candidate pool has to consist of proven guys imo.

Herman
Jimbo

This might be the most overlooked fact of CEO. This is probably the experience that makes him the coach he is today(whatever that turns out to be).

The most important thing he said that got my attention is that he learned from his mistakes. That and being adaptable are two of the most important characteristics to have in life, especially in college football.

it isn't relevant to winning games its just a nice additional characteristic and fans of every major university in the nation would view it as such.

If he loses i don't care if he's my next door neighbor he shouldn't coach at LSU.

this whole thing is such a strawman from the Never O crowd. It's mentioned as kinda cool that he's from larose and is now the head coach (interim) of LSU and you act as if nobody cares how he coaches the team of if he wins games. it's bullshite.

the accent, the being from louisiana deal might help a bit with instate recruiting but it's not that big of a deal. it's just lagniappe baw.

Because LSU is not going to outbid Texas on Herman.

Charlie Strong? You're joking right?

If you really think that, I just don't know what to say.

Surely you're just messing around to be funny.

This is his 3rd year at Texas. How long does it take to get talent into the program? Especially at a school like Texas. I'm not a fan of him as a HC.

What if Coach O was was from NORTH Louisiana instead of SOUTH Louisiana? Would the love affair be the same? IMO he is simply from LOUISIANA and loves LSU just like the vast majority of people do!

The resume for strong speaks for itself. One of the two has a history of being a successful HC. I'll let your tiny brain figure that out.

You want to bring up resume?

Orgeron coached at Miami under Jimmy Johnson and Dennis Erickson when Miami was dominant and won a few national championships. And then ten years later did the same at USC under Pete Carroll.

Strong coached at Florida under Meyer, with two National Championship teams.

You tell me which one is more impressive, tiny brain?

ETA: oh wait, can't leave out that impressive run at South Carolina under Lou Holtz.

Successful? Fired mid season is what you call successful?
