I have read numerous posts about the reasons fans leave early. Traffic, tailgates, frat parties, etc.

The underlying reason is that we are now a society with a short attention span. You know the reasons why so I don't need to have a long post explaining it. But many fans can't sit still long enough to make it through an entire game without getting "bored" and having the need to go do something else.

I can't explain why it seems to be happening to a greater extent at LSU than other places. But it is happening elsewhere too and even with viewership on TV.

No, people don't want to spend more time getting home from the game than the game lasted.

So if we've identified the problem, how does it get solved?

Better connectivity in stadium?

Sell beer?

What?

Selling beer in the stadium is guaranteed to keep more fans there.

And instant gratification. Agreed.

Combine that with the fact that we are spoiled and just a little bit entitled due to recent success, and there you have it. It probably doesn't help that BR rolls the sidewalks up at 10 o'clock or else we'll all turn into a giant pumpkin, but then it's always been that way, so I'd say it has more to do with what you suggested.

Its a multitude of factors. LSU started limiting the number of tailgaters 7-8 years ago with trailer fees, parking on Nicholson, size of tents, etc..

That did reduce some tailgaters then you factor in the chaotic traffic mess after games and its enough for fans to reduce their tailgating time and reduce their time inside the stadium. Traffic wasn't nearly this bad 7-8 years ago and more fans stayed to the end of the game then. LSU simply thinks they know everything for traffic management and they end up micromanaging it so much that its a cluster. There is little to no coordination for the parking lots and how to get to the parking lots. One cop will say go this way, another one will say go this way and sure enough you cant even get there.

Simple traffic flow pattern, electronic signs indicating number of parking spots left in certain lots, etc..

Streets have expanded, even though the stadium holds more people now fewer people are attending, and have a traffic problem 10 times worse than what it was several years ago.

They've changed the atmosphere in Tiger Stadium. It sucks arse now.

Between all the timeouts and the absolutely horrible crap they blare over the loudspeakers, it just isn't worth actually going in to watch a whole game. It's even gotten to the point where the music is a distraction listening to the game on the radio. It's out of fricking control.

I know, I know, the music pumps up the younger people. Unfortunately, it's the younger people that have the ADD issues. Why are we catering to kids that won't even stay the whole game?

It's no coincidence that we're seeing fewer people in the stands as they're increasing all the NFL type crap.

Okay, you can get back on my lawn now.

The success of LSU tailgating is a primary reason people leave the game early. Most people simply get tired after a day filled with eating and drinking.

The game isn't the primary event any longer to some people. It's all about the party.

I'm sure at schools where the pre-game festivities aren't as good (which is just about anywhere else) the fans stay a bit longer.
