I bought my father in law an AM/FM radio he wanted so badly so he can listen to Chris Blair while watching the game live in Death Valley. Is there a delay from watching it live to listening to it "live" on 98.1?

I believe there is a 1-2 second delay.

Shouldn't be too bad through an actual radio. I tried streaming it on my phone and it was a good 10 seconds behind at least.

Never understood the point of this.

How much information are you really missing?

All the people I've ever met who do this are nice and are big fans.

It's probably 1 second and that's new for this year. It isn't long enough to screw things ip though. I use a sports Walkman for years. You get all the injury reports and everything going on the sidelines and the locker room.

You're a good man. My daddy refused to go to several games that I wanted to take him to- he always said he liked it better on the radio. He passed away in Jan, and this football season has been shite for me.

Also, whoever down voted this man's post

(FWIW, I have no idea if there is a delay)

Yes about a 2 second delay. Wasn't like that last year. My dad has always listened to the radio in the stadium and has never had a delay like that before.

He let me listen for a little bit and at one point the radio broadcast was ending an advertisement from commercial break while a play was ending in the stadium.

We thought it might have been the radio so we checked it against the radio broadcast in the car after game and they were exactly the same.

I tweeted Chris Blair about the issue and he said they fixed the issue but the next game the delay was still there. It's got to be something he is doing. There was never a delay like that until he took over.

it's about a second or two. I have a Sangean that fits in my pocket. Tune into 98.1. I like hearing what Gordy has to say from the sidelines.

they used to sell the "tiger ear" or something outside the stadium, basically it just gave you the radio broadcast

i loved it, would let you know what was going on in an injury, if there was a controversial call you would know what was going on

LSU used to sell some special radio that was tied right to the raw broadcast of the game, inside the stadium. It had no delay, but I don't know if they do that any more. It was the 98.1 broadcast but didn't have the delay.
