Buying guns online

Any tips on buying guns online? Is it even worth it for a more common gun that I could probably find used at a local shop? I notice a lot want either money orders, I feel hesitant to pay like this. At least with a credit card I'm somewhat protected. Any sites that are more trustworthy than others?

PSA is a good place. Cheap and fast. Take credit card.

It really depends on what you are looking for. Recently I got the hankering for a Remington 552 Speedmaster, which is no longer in production. Hadn't seen one at any gun stores or gun shows here in years.
So I went on Gunbroker and there were a bunch. I always buy only from trusted dealers who have very good feedback.
I got the gun in, and it was in great condition. A week or two later, I went to the gun show in Lafayette, and there were two for sale there! LOL. However, they weren't in as good shape as the one I got on GB.
If you're looking for milsurps you can try AIM Surplus, they have lots and a good reputation. New guns? PSA or Gunbroker.
Just my .02.

Guns America is all I have experience with.
Had no problems at all. Gave my cc# over the phone to the dealer in Iowa that had the 7mm I bought. Shipped to a dealer 5 min from my house.

Most places take credit cards and Paypal. Its no different than buying from a store near your home.

PSA has had credit card issues the past couple of months. Buy a visa gift card and use that.

Bought my M1A from grabagun. Shipping was free, no tax, and it came in on schedule.
Looking at an AR from tombstone tactical. Anyone have experience with them? Cash price is $30 cheaper. How do you get a cash payment to them? Any way to do it electronically?

PSA and SGCUSA are two I can vouch for. If you keep an eye out for what you want...wait for free shipping. I always give my local shops a call first and use them if they are within $20 or so. Call around for ffl transfer prices because they can vary quite a bit. Shop I use charges $15.

Bought my M&P 15-22 from cdnnsports.com.
Set up an account with them and paid with credit card just like Amazon. Had gun sent to a local store that their site had listed as an approved FFL.
The store couldn't sell it to me for the same price. Said he made $10.00 more with me paying him the $20.00 transfer fee.
Here's their "How to buy a Firearm" page

Aim Surplus, Buds Gun Shop, Palmetto State Armory, Primary Arms, Silencer Shop...
If you have a place that will do a $20 transfer, it will save you money. Just don't bitch about your local gun shop going out of business. The Arms Merchant in Mandeville stays fairly competitive compared to what I can find online (tax not withstanding).
Sometimes you just need to put a gun in your hand to determine if you are going to like it. If I go to a store to check it out, I usually buy it there.

If I lived in New Orleans, Lafayette, Baton Rouge or even Shreveport, I think I would always buy from the local gun shop. Living in Ruston, the prices are so high I have to drive to Shreveport, shop while I am visiting friends in Laffy, BR or NOLA, or order online.
Have to do the same with ammo too. My Walmart doesn't have anything in bulk and quit carrying the 9 mm Perfecta ammo that shot as well as anything I've fed my pistol. When I was in Lafayette about six months ago, I bought ammo from two different stores and brought it home.

Got a great deal on a new A5 last year. Of course, had been watching for a while, before I saw it. Gunbroker.com

I bought a Benelli from a guy on Gunbroker and I noticed he was in Alabama so he just shipped it straight to my house. Nice when you find them in state.

Can mail a long gun within the state of Louisiana, resident to resident. Legal.

Don't forget, Obama said you won't need to do a background check.
