Too bad the idiot we have just doesn't know how to win championships with that talent. 44 LSU players in the NFL. Big deal. What did that bring to LSU and what does that say for the coach, "oh, hes a nice guy".

I'm sure that he is referring to Wisconsin.

I would say it's between Ohio St and LSU for having the best in-state edge. Both schools have no in-state comp and both states rank very high in talent per capita.

I disagree about Florida. When Meyer quit they hired Muschamp whom everyone thought was the right guy at the time. He was a bust, and his defensive priority weren't going to be replicated. Their next hire was an attempt to recreate their success with Meyer. They hired a young guy with recent success in a non-P5 conference who id regarded as an offensive innovator.

Texas was an interesting situation. There were serious internal political issues occurring, and the coaching search effort was hardly unified. Despite that I think they found themselves a good one in Charlie Strong. It may have taken longer than expected, but I see a team with improved talent being utilized effectively.

Who were their guys? Were there reasonable circumstances that prevented them getting their guys?

Once maybe.....but not any more. The Miles "repellent" may start having an effect on recruiting now.

the talent on the line of scrimmage and at QB the last 4 years is what has gotten us beat again those guys.

This is true. Although LSU ought be able to snag those guys from Texas when Louisiana is low on those positions. I've always wondered at the lack of top flight LB talent too. Surprising to me.

Quite the opposite. You are assuming that Houston isn't talented. I'm saying that is a talented team that you are discounting.

I think there are a lot of talented players on Houston's team. But how do they compare, especially on defense, to the talent of OK?

I would like to know what game besides South Alabama, USM, or maybe Mizzou do we have this overwhelming talent advantage?

Lord have mercy on the NCAA football world if LSU ever were to get a coach that can recruit AND produce on the field. I've become more and more convinced the CLM's early success was purely because of talent and not coaching abilities.

So sick of this shite.

LSU isn't those schools. THOSE SCHOOLS HAVE BIG UNIVERSITIES IN STATE TO COMPETE WITH. LSU does not.

NEITHER of those schools will recruit like LSU once LSU is established.

MILES IS PROOF THAT AN AVERAGE COACH CAN MAKE THE TRANSITION TO LSU.. he was no special coach.. and even he had success off the talent here..

LSU was not as established until Saban..

We need to stop settling and Miles isn't getting it done any more. He has regressed

I'm telling you that the talent difference between OU and UH is not as big as you are saying. It isn't "overwhelming" at all. So I really don't know what you're asking me.

I imagine his point is that Stoops could get the most out of the offensive playmakers at LSU, and I too believe that to be the case.

The worst LSU defenses of late are still good enough to win championships if you have an Oklahoma-level offense.

Did Colin mention one common statistic about Big game Bob and Les Miles? Bob Stoops is 2 and 2 against Les Miles. That is 2 and 2 with Oklahoma State talent, not LSU talent. That is also Oklahoma State talent circa 2000 to 2004, not the current talent that they have now.

With his conference the way it is, he should never lose a game. Most overrated coach in the game.

LSU needs someone who can recruit QBs and LBs outside the state of Louisiana. It is a hotbed, but those two positions are a rare find. This state produces a QB and LB about once a decade worth a damn.

Impossible! LSU has no native recruiting advantages. In fact, it's a miracle that the genius Les Miles is able to overcome LSU's intrinsic recruiting shortcomings with his eloquence and charm. How does he do it? If we fire Miles, no other competent coach will ever come to Baton Rouge. All of the in-state talent will be funneled to Tulane.
