Excuse my ignorance, but is he still on Scholly. We don't have to give him one of the spots in the 2017 class, do we?

I'm pretty sure he will be on scholly. Les said he's taking a redshirt. I'm not sure if he's treated like a guy that's academically ineligible, or just a plain redshirt. I don't know much about how it works out, either...

He counts against the 85, but not the 105 man roster, per Les.

Tweet I saw earlier said he counts towards the 85 scholarships but not towards the roster.

Really sad for Anthony not just as a person but we were all really high on him during recruitment

Thankfully our front 7 looks loaded on paper and Aranda is back there getting everyone in the best position to make plays

it's not the kid's fault. Unless there's some kind of proof that he's forging academic results I think he should be given the benefit of the doubt.

Frick no! What are you nuts? The burden of proof should be on the kid to prove that he's met the requirements. If your suggestion was incorporated you'd have kids going to phony high schools and being truant for four years. You need to rethink that, and if you're of the same opinion you need to grow up.

He's an 18 year old kid that probably doesn't even know how to write a check and you expect him to clear this mess up by himself?

Are you fricking daft?

Per Ross Dellenger......104 players have reported. Still waiting on one more guy. Miles cannot comment on Valentine.

?@RossDellenger
Miles says 104 players have reported. "Still waiting on one guy."

Hmm. #LSU

@RossDellenger Ross Dellenger Retweeted michael regan
He has not reported yet. That is expected, as we reported yesterday, at some point. #LSU

@RossDellenger have you seen T. Valentine?

So he counts against the 85, but not the 105. Does that mean he gets to practice and workout with the team?

Pretty sure this happens with college basketball recruits.

I'm slightly confused on the comment. Like did he fail to qualify or fail to report the Karr scores?

If his graduation and diploma was recognized by louisianas education system then the ncaa shouldn't be able to dispute his enrollment and eligibility at a college.

The ncaa will let other shite go but they are holier than thou on this kind of stuff.

I don't think he "failed to qualify" per se. My understanding is that there's no proof of his grades from Miller-McCoy, which probably included some of the core classes required by the NCAA for eligibility...

Here's an excerpt from the article on Miles' PC.

quote:

efensive end Andre Anthony won’t be joining the program until the spring semester, Miles said, hinting that the Under Armor All-American would likely take an academic redshirt. Miles confirmed the four-star recruit’s academic eligibility issues with the NCAA haven’t been cleared up. “We’re unhappy that Andre Anthony is not with us,” Miles said. “It’s really unfortunate. He’s a good student and a good young man.” The issue pertains to Anthony’s transcript. Miles said an appeal filed by LSU on Anthony’s behalf was denied by the NCAA. He’s expected to enroll in school and continue working to qualify academically.

So he's enrolling in school, but won't join the team until the spring. So I guess he won't be able to practice or workout with them. Like I stated before, I wonder if they could just make him a manager, so he could at least be present at practice to gain knowledge from the staff... I guess not, though, since it's likely this would've been done before.
