Yesterday, after M&M spent quite a bit of time on the LM story to UM, Greenie said they hoped LM was good on his word, and that if it turned out that way, they would ?recant? this story [don't remember their exact words, but I remember thinking I'll be waiting for their response/recant when LM turns out to be the man we thought he was] .
I guess the Petrino story was a good tree to hide behind this morning. Or maybe I just missed it?????

On the one hand, I'm glad the victim of today's news is someone other than LM, but M&M should come out and say directly that they know now with definitive certainty that LM IS a man of integrity, just like they wanted Les to come out and directly say with definitive certainty that he WAS NOT going to UM.

And what will that a-hole Skip Bayless say about him today? He and the two ignorant dickheads that were on First and 10 yesterday ripped Miles as if he had already signed a contract with UM!
$10 says Bayless won't recant a thing. He's scum.

Hell no.
As the saying go..Les Miles is literally 'Yesterdays news'...
already forgotten by the national media..and rightfully so.
Its just a shame that the best thing that could have happened to Les Miles was for a complete slimebag like Bobby Petrino to do what he did for the media to righfully turn its attention away from Les...

Let's hope so - we got a national championship to win!

Media won't stop until UM hires a coach.

How many days can the media run with Petrino/Atlanta/Arkie story? days? a week?
Yesterday, my radio buttons were burning 'cause I couldn't find a sports station that wasn't talking about Vick or LM

Vick and Petrino will keep them occupied for a while now I'll predict.

I hate to do this guys, but I heard M&M from the pod cast and did not think there was an issue with what they said. Greenie was very honest that he did not know Miles and therefore did not know his integrity. He said if Miles left it would be worse than Saban (dont think he is wrong). He said if Miles was staying then all the time they spent ( 4 - 5 mins) could be swept under the rug. He felt that when Miles came to the M&M show last week he thought he was genuine and hoped that he would stick to his word, but if he did not Greenie thought it was very not ingenuous. I kind of agree with him. We know who Miles is and what kind of person he is. They do not, so thats what prompted his comment. How can you blame him as we see something like all the time with coaches. Happened with Saban and now with Petrino. I mean if you do not know the person how are you to know...I believe he was careful in not roasting him yesterday and was clear that only if Miles moved would he be painted bad...

Those were the words I was looking for. . .thanks, for listening to podcast and getting their words for me

I agree with everything you say here. . However, if they are going to make comments about a story that was the BIG news yesterday, they should f/u next day w/ response. Most news stories do get follow-up when they get resolved.
ETA: I know everyone & their grandmother covered the results, but M&M should finish up their "commentary" from yesterday. Just my opinion.

Yeah I hear you. I am not sure if they f/u this morning though although I did see sportscenter come in between and talk about Miles story in between M&M this morning. Cannot get the pod casts from my office but will get back if they did f/u. Do not think they did. However as always. Glad that the Hat is here

Sorry, but if I were touted as an expert on such matters, and went on national radio and TV and suggested that Greenberg's wife might be a woman of easy virtue (a slut, for those of you educated in the last 25 years), but that since I don't know her I hope it isn't true and that if it isn't, I take it all back, I expect he'd be justifiably offended.

I agree this would be offending, but in this case he did not say that. He said that if Miles left ("If Miles Left" being the catch phrase) then he would be whatever it is you want to call it. He did not make a blanket statement that he was man of lesser morality like your example suggests. It would be like saying if ones wife is sleeping with other men then she is a slut (to pull from your example). I would have to agree to that if that was the case...

M&M did not say anything specifically bout it but the sportcaster did give it decent time, quoting Skip as well. What I hold against M&M was that the whole slant was that he was leaving/lying, but added at the end the crevat that if he stayed, they were wrong. 4 minutes of negativity and 1 min of covering their butts if wrong.

nycajun, that's too funny. I sent an email to MikeandMike yesterday. That's the analogy I made. A journalist doesn't rant about something they know nothing about, essentially call someone a Liar (which they did yesterday by discussing Miles and in the same breath saying all college coaches lie) then say, "but if I'm wrong let's forget we had this conversation." That's not responsible at all.

I understand what you guys are saying, however this is why he added the caveat. I dont think you can give your opinion on anything otherwise. Remember this is his opinion based on a report from another source. He said he did not know Miles and his integrity. I am not saying that he is correct, however from what we see in the world of caoching today how can you expect someone to not be skeptical. The only reason why you and me are mad is because we believe in Miles and his word. Others may be hesitant to do that (considering everything that goes on). The other thing he said was that he did not care if Miles lied in the program, but to sign a document that you were staying and then bolt in a week would be bad. I tend to agree with him on this too. I understand if you feel this way if a LSU fan were to say the same thing as Greenie but from some one who is far from the program, I dont see how they can trust anyone...Just saying

tomorrow and for a few days after it will be the Mitchell Report and not college football.

It has become (and maybe it always was) a favorite tactic of the media, both broadcast and print, to start with an assertion from an unnamed source (as in, "it has been said that[X]..," or "can you respond to the assertion that [X]..."). The reporter asking the question, or writing the story, can always say,"Well, I wasn't suggesting that X is true," ignoring entirely the absence of any evidence that X is, or ever was, true. Nevertheless, the reporter has succeeded in putting out there, through the power of her access to the media, and whatever reputation her newspaper, network, etc., may have, the suggestion that somehow X may be, or is even likely to be, true. As a matter of pure semantics, she hasn't said anything that is inaccurate. As a matter of substance, she has avoided her duty to the truth. It's a smarmy game, and any paper or network that uses it doesn't deserve to be taken seriously. Unfortunately, that doesn't leave too many sources for honest journalism.

As for your last post, if you are talking in general I agree with you. Since in ESPN yesterday I heard a lot of other analysts/ journalists that were talking as if Miles already moved and that he was a liar. I also remember a ESPN article by Jemele Hill and in this article there was nothing there that was true. Seemed like this was pure opinion and speculation. I agree in this case that it was BS. This was talked in the rant on more than one thread.
I was only responding to what was mentioned in M&M. From listening to him I dont think that is what he meant. He specifically mentioned that he may not know everything and he could be wrong. However he opined that if Miles left it would be bad. Which I dont think anyone here disagrees. We would all understand considering this is Alma Mater but it would piss a lot of us if he left now.
But on a general note, I agree with you and am glad we have a class guy like Miles as our coach.
