What reel would you put on this rod?

8 foot. Heavy fast action. I plan on using it for snapper and shallow rig fishing. I'm just confused as to what size reel. It's probably 7/8 " thick at the reel seat but overall because of the length it doesn't come off as a typical offshore pole.

would be more fun for snapper than the "broom sticks" some people use.
get a reel that matches the rods max line weight

The link calls it an inshore rod, so that may help. If it's going to be used for snapper, I would check out the Shimano Bait Runner reels. I just got a Thunnus in yesterday, it'll be used for light/med offshore.

I would probably go with a 4000, maybe a 6000 if you want to size up.
