He's in a rental so I assume he flew here. I've never flown with a weapon, but is it as easy as just checking it with your luggage?

I'm not a psychologist, so it's impossible for me to say what was going through his head or if he was crazy. But the fact that he made videos with good messages before he did this comes as no surprise or shock, IMO.
