Oh hey guys, long time no Kobe thread, amirite? I really want to point out the brilliance of Kobe's 2013 season, because I don't think casual observers realize how elite his play was at 34 years old. Get it together, casual observers. First, let's look at the stats:

PPG - 27.3
RPG - 5.6
APG - 6.0
BPG - 0.3
SPG - 1.4
PER - 23
FG% - 46.3%
3pt% - 32.4%
FT% - 83.9%
TS% - 57%

He also started 78/78 games (popped his achilles in game 78) and played 39mpg.

I'm not going to breakdown how well these stats stack up to his previous years, but suffice it to say that those numbers are extremely competitive with the top 10 seasons in his career. Personally, I think 2012-13 was one of the five best seasons he had given his age. I've often wondered if Kobe was on some special sauce, because his play and athleticism in his 17th year is just insane.

Now, let's roll the tape!

Kobe Dunks on Josh Smith
Kobe Dunks on the Barclays Center
Kobe hits three 3s late against Toronto, dunks on team in OT

Kobe is an over-rated POS, has no leadership, and will not win a championship ever again

Forgot to add that he never won anything without a capable big man and is solely responsible for the situation the Lakers are in

Hoe could you forget this? It's the man's legacy after all.

what was the lakers record, and whats so impressive about those numbers? Steve nash put up better percentages across the board except ppg at that same age im sure

ETA just checked, go look at nash's 2008 season and lol at you thinking those kobe numbers are impressive for a 34 year old

You're like a notch above VengenceRabbleRabble on the MSB poster ladder. You're not at the bottom but you're close.

What Kobe did at 34 was unbelievable. I hated Kobe but I appreciated his drive at an old age. He wanted to win.

ok

And your point is?

Eta: I see this all the time on TD. Someone will post about a great (or terrible) season, player, team, etc. then someone will point out how another party did it better/worse, as to discredit the original post.

Jordan, Malone, admiral, dirk among others all had higher PERs at the same age. Sam Cassell had the same PER at 34 as Kobe.

Shoot Malone & admiral had better age 35 seasons compared to Kobe's 34 year.

Good season but as I said, hardly unprecedented

The only thing impressive about that season is the wear he put on his body, which failed under the pressure.
