The fact that some minorities don't achieve that goal is not an institutional problem, it's a personal one.
The point was preperation once you get to college. If I didnt have calculus in my high school curriculum, then Im going to be at a disadvantage. I was a math whiz so I didnt have an issue, but a bunch of people I went to highschool with did.

This is correct. The problem is, where we are from, the lack of effort. I've known guys who weren't the brightest dudes and were poor but made the very best of their opportunities. I've also known some bright dudes who were poor that don't have a pot to piss in now because they didn't give a frick. Can you guess which one of those blames his lifestyle on racial inequity?

Obviously.

Hell blacks even received vouchers to attend private schools. What else needs to be done? Give them the answers? That is being done already in the public schools.

All I know is that I was given the same opportunity as every black person in my town. Went to the same public schools as everyone else. If they didn't succeed the same way I did, then they only have themselves or their parents to blame.

I went to a predominantly white public school in LA. I wasn't even close to adequately prepared for college. That is not exclusive to predominantly black schools, I promise you.

I can tell you as a teacher who taught in inner city Memphis that these all-black schools get more state and federal funding than the white schools do. The teachers are paid more, they have more technology in the classroom and better equipment overall. It is the home life of the blacks that keeps them falling behind. Schools have children 1/3 of the day 1/2 days of the year. Where they are the other 5/6 of the time is the difference.
This is accurate and until everyone recognizes that it is a cultural problem we will get no where.

Same here, my school was about 50/50. There were many from black and white who made something of themselves. Has nothing to do with lack of opportunity, has everything to do with wanting to do it.

I applaud your educational success, but you must admit that, by and large, the black community only pays lip service to education.
Kids who do well or just try hard are said to be "acting white." How in the hell is that helping anything?
They complain that there aren't enough black teachers. Screw that. They need to tell their kids that they can learn just as well from a white teacher, a man, a woman, whatever.
They like to use Dr. Martin Luther King's name, but I don't think ANY of them have ANY idea what Dr. King and the people of his era went through to give today's black kids the opportunities that they now take big crap on. Today they whine about not having safe spaces. Are you kidding me? Back then, they couldn't use the same facilities as white people, go into a store through the front door or just look at a white person in the eyes.
As I have posted previously, the problems in the black community are numerous and easy to spot. Solving them is going to take a lot of people a lot smarter than me. The first step, though, will be to admit that a lot of the problems are self-inflicted. they don't want to do that. It's much easier to blame others.

Well stated.

This. The opportunity is there for everyone to get to college, and many take it. However, once you're there the handouts are over, no matter what color your skin is. College professors give zero fricks if you're not willing to do the work.
ETA: Also, lack of preparation in high school is not an excuse for failing in college. Free tutoring is offered for every single subject to anyone who's interested.

The kids who got educated and gave a frick are the ones who arent government leaches. Those kinds of people arent just relegated to black kids, there are plenty of rural white kids that took that route. The opportunity is there, someone just has to take advantage of whats there and give a flying frick. It doesnt matter about color, it matters about laziness and I've seen lazy arse whites as much as blacks. Take some god damned pride in making yourself a contributing citizen, it's only about color if you make it about color.
I totally agree with this but you left out the parent influence . Kids who have role models at home that give guidance and help greatly contribute to what you stated above. Kids are a product of what kind of environment they are raised in.

Private schools are, well, private.
If you can afford it, you go. If not, you don't.
I'm sure there are PLENTY of black kids that go to private schools. Obama's kids do.

No affirmative action at Texas A&M

That's the only thing they've ever done that was noteworthy, IMO.

People just want to blame anything except the shitty home life that idolizes wealth and immediate gratification. Private schooling in the north is nowhere near as frequent so that argument is stupid. These kids aren't learning everything at the public school and being held from higher level knowledge. Most of these dumbass kids can barely read and write.
