Track. If you're a freestyler you only have to finish top 6 to make the relay team and you have multiple events with more opportunities.

Ledecky was swimming the 800 through the 100. That would be the equivalent of Galen Rupp running the 400

US track takes top 6 in 100 also for the relay. Depends on who makes the 200 though.

I'm not sure how many 400 runners they take.

If you're a freestyler you only have so many events. A sprinter only does the 50/100, maybe the 200 if they aren't a full sprinter. You're a bit off.

Not many people can do more than that.

And Ledecky will be the greatest female swimmer of all time when her career is over. She is the exception, not the rule
