Exxon explosion around xmas time back in around 1989. I was at my grand pappy'shouse who still lived in NBR near Exxon at the time.

2 family members were in the plant that day. I saw some looting afterwards. It was a crazy day.

Good question... I guess probably a train or shooting a high powered rifle.

I bought a Browning A Bolt with a BOSS on it back when I was a teenager. I disregarded the instructions about hearing protection because it was the same warning with all guns. I had no idea that I'd would be that many times more loud than a regular rifle. It literally hurt my ears when I shot it and afterwards they rang for several hours.

The 10:00 news from that night is on YouTube. That was a VERY busy news night. Invasion of Panama, record cold snap, Ernest Morial dies, Exxon blew up.

And the Saints beat the shite out of the Colts in the regular season finale whoch caused Indy to miss the playoffs.

I was 6 at the time and we were staying on Winnebago off of Winbourne ave and that explosion was the loudest shite I've ever heard.

Some kind of scan the doctors at Dallas Presbyterian did on my head. It seemed like they closed a square box around my head. It made a loud rumbling sound. They gave me ear plugs. I'm epileptic and was worried it might cause me to have a seizure.

I had been hooked up to life support for weeks. They were checking to see if I had any brain damage.

ETA: I think it may have been an earlier version of this.

There wasn't any slick plastic. A metal box was closed over my head.

You and NWARTY are obviously Army from the unit names. I knew the Army had the 155s but thought ya'll mainly shot the 105s. Not counting the Paladins. Do ya'll have more 155s or the 105s? The Marines are switching to the MLRS more. My old unit doesn't even shoot the M198 or M777 anymore, they're all rockets now. Kind of makes me sad.

Go to the 20 second mark.

People felt this 40 miles away in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Paducah, Kentucky.

Every unit I was in was 155mm. Not sure what the percentage is of the weapon systems though.

Standing in front at a George Clinton concert, right in front of the speaker. I still don't hear well out of my right ear.

Yammie,
Majority of the units are 155mm. The lighter stuff you see with 173rd, the schoolhouse, 82nd, etc. I grew up on Paladins and 109A5's. I even got to see the m102 and 8-inch fire.

Our unit is transitioning to the 777 from Paladin. We turned them in already and it was a very sad day to see them go. I consider myself extremely lucky as an Artilleryman to see all the changes in the last 20+ years, from being a Fister to Gun Bunny. I came into the army in the days of TACFIRE and BCS, Gun DIsplay units, DR-8, GVLLDs and TAS-4Ds, Sluggers and PLGR, FEDs, PRC-77's and the SINCGARS and ASIPs and everything beyond that. It's been a ride for sure

That's an MRI. I've had probably 10 or 12 of them. I fall asleep in them now. I can't remember which place around me had the face shield, but that was weird. Now they have stand-up ones.

All of the clicking and buzzing is loud, but not bad. I went through once without ear protection
