Is ANYONE optimistic about this "NASCAR HEAT: EVOLUTION" game coming mid Sept?

I'm so desperate for a NASCAR game that even if it's awful (I feel like average would be a miracle) I'll buy it.

Ridiculous that the NASCAR games have become so scarce in recent years

NR2003 was tGoat. After Papyrus went under, I quit the sim racing scene. Looked into iRacing, but it's a price-gouging scheme.

NASCAR games have usually been way too arcade-y for me to bother.

EA made some really good ones around 04-06, 08 was an abomination and I don't even know if EA made another one after that

The original nascar heat was ok, but had a bit of an arcadey feel so I am not real optimistic. NR2003 was indeed the goat and is still the standard nascar game imo. rFactor has a nascar mod, and i have heard some good things but haven't tried it myself

The NASCAR game where you climbed through the ranks and formed allies and enemies was the GOAT.

Other than that, a lot of them have been shite.

I barely remember much about the original NASCAR Heat but I did have it and played it some. Seems like I remember that it had a couple features the EA game didn't that I liked but don't remember what

I only played the Papyrus ones.

And by "played," I mean actual racing on any course that wasn't a super speedway was so hard, I would just cue up Talladega, letting everyone get up to speed, then do a suicide run on the backstretch to cause the biggest accidents I could so I could replay it from 30 different camera angles.

I bought a $100 steering wheel and pedals just to do that

How fun could a nascar game possibly be? That sounds so incredibly boring unless your just super nascar fan already

Older ones have actually been pretty fun. That said it may not be your thing

It's not a whole lot different from any other racing game

The Papy games were great. I used to race in a few leagues and it was a blast. Unlike other games, it was more of a simulation. You just couldn't mash the gas and turn and expect to do anything. You really had to drive the cars, tune them and treat the gas pedal like it had an eggshell underneath it.

I had friends come over and try to just exit pit road.. They would wreck before hitting the track or spin out trying to blend in on a track like Bristol or Dover.

My two favorite tracks to drive on were Michigan and Pocono. I remember spending several hours building the perfect Michigan setup. It was a handful the first two laps, but after the tire pressures came up and you built a little heat up, I could just do what I wanted on the track.

I'm optimistic just because I haven't played a NASCAR game with that great of graphics. Hopefully it gives us a solid career mode and a decently realistic race.

That's all I ask for. I'll be buying no matter what

Yea I'm the same way, will buy regardless

One of the EA games had an awesome career mode where you could own your own team and started from nothing. You had to budget to buy different chassis and engines and brakes etc. some were better for short tracks others for superspeedways. You had to secure sponsorship to pay for the stuff. I don't expect something like that to be there but it would be awesome

God I miss the old NR2003 days. I fricking hate iRacing. Will not buy that garbage.

Them cease and desisting the NR2003 mod community so they could build their game off the back of NR2003 will never be forgiven.

I played in a few leagues and did a bunch of car template/car paint scheme/track painting work for a few different places. Was so much fun back in the day.

I enjoyed the Brian Ring tracks a lot, it's too bad they shut him down.

The original tracks, Las Vegas was probably my best. I dominated that place in my leagues. The patch track Nashville was a very similar and I had a lot of good races there. Darlington was another of my favorite, just for the challenge.

I ran a couple of servers for the old TXR racing league for NR2003. (Team Xtreme Racing LOL) The original guy had a breakdown one day and just quit, so I took over for a year or so before life ended up getting in the way and I "retired". I loved it, man. Such a great group of people to race with. I ran one league and was in about 3 others. I remember when the truck mod and the 80s mod came out....my god was that awesome.

Rockingham was my favorite track. It ate tires for breakfast and I knew how to kind of let off the gas early and coast through the turns to save my tires. I don't remember ever not winning there.

Wish I still had the old results excel sheets I kept back in the day. Good memories.

Yes I'm ready

Nothing better than playing online and racing at Taladega and drafting off of one another.

I bet I used/borrowed some of your skins at some point or another. I know I use to upload a ton of them, too. I made templates for the 80s mod as well. Painting cars for people was a lot of fun. Demanding, but fun.
