The issue with Russell IMO, is that he doesn't fit with Jrue. I think Dunn is an ideal compliment to Jrue, Murray can be very good, and Hield is okay if the Pels use AD as more of a playmaking forward

Basically, you can't have a ball dominant guy with Jrue, and ideally you have a guy who can defend multiple backcourt positions. Russell is a pure, pure point and if you are building around him and AD, then Jrue has to go.

So, fit wise, I like Murray and Dunn better for the Pels than Russell, because of the fit with Jrue. But in a vacuum, he might be a slightly better prospect

Having two guards with tight handles that can shoot the 3 don't fit? That's an ideal backcourt in today's NBA.

Let's not forget Jrue could be gone after next year too.

That's kind of a stretch. He played off the ball some next to Shannon Scott at osu and he has said in the past he modeled his game after guys like Manu and Joe Johnson.

Either way, he doesn't warrant 3 "pures".

Also why wouldn't the better offensive player (Russell) fit next to Jrue?

Don't you always say you never draft for today's roster you get the best talent?

It's not a draft pick but he's one year in. There isn't much difference.

What's Jrue's trade value then? I guess our 2017 pick won't have as much value as this year's pick did after we started the season so bad, but didn't Zach Lowe say we could have gotten Middleton for Jrue and a 1st? Trade 6 for Russell and trade Jrue and next year's 1st for Middleton? Even if you can't get that, it does suggest Jrue has some value. Maybe you can trade Jrue to the Jazz for #12 and Trey Burke? I'm not sure who I take at 12, Sabonis? I'd rather flip the Jazz assets to Denver and have 15 and 19. Take a big and Prince.

Coming out of college, Russell is a better version of Murrary, statistically speaking, with acknowledged advantages in passing/vision.

This year, Russell shot 37% on 3 Catch and Shoot 3PA/G after the all-star break. He is more point than combo, but he is also comfortable off ball.

Also, seems like the Pels want Holiday to be more of a secondary ball handler. Dunn/Russell make sense there, but not sure how Murrary does since he projects as a secondary ball handler.

To me, the issue is more that Holiday is ball dominant, but he's not particularly great at it. Letting him run the 2s makes sense in that respect, but they need his defense to start the game.
