"Casualty" always includes both the wounded and the dead.

You are unlearned then. In a military situation,it will mean "Unusable Troops",you have to feed them,aid them,and they are more costly than the dead.
It actually figures more into planning.A shite load of wounded troops,is more of a strain than a train load of dead troops.
A casualty,is anybody who was affected/ (effected?) by a bad thing,not always dead from it.
