Hitting deer with your vehicle stories...

A guy at work hit a deer last night. Needless to say, we've had a productive first hour of work this morning drinking coffee and telling deer hitting stories. I hadn't thought about this in a while, but this is a crazy one.
My sister was driving a rural 2 lane road one night a few years ago. A doe crosses the road in front of her, and luckily she wasn't going very fast. She got the SUV stopped just in time to miss the arse of the deer as it crossed right to left in front of her. She said, "That was clos..." BAM!!!! A buck chasing the doe tried to cut behind her headlights and rammed the rear passenger door of her explorer. Shattered the window and dented the hell out of the door. He got up and resumed the pursuit.
So technically, the deer hit her.

similar story for my buddy but he was driving about 60 mph and the deer ran into the side of his car and busted through both of his side windows
the inside and the outside of his car was absolutely covered in blood and guts
it was one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen

I'm originally from Ohio, if you havent hit a deer, you are lucky.
My sister had a buck fall/jump from an elevated embankment on her Porsche 911 while driving. trapped her in the car for about 45 minutes.

lived in SW PA last 5 years and this is true. I can't believe I never hit one. came close a few times. I learned that when I see one I would hit the gas. don't give a chance to decide to run in front of me
they were stupid up there though. some would just be chillin in the road and not move. I would pull right up to them and they just stand there.

In high school me and some friends were riding around and I hit a doe and crippled her. Nobody had a knife sharp enough to cut her throat so I twisted her head trying to break her neck. Still no luck so they drug her back out in the road kicking and held her down while I ran over her head
Not long after that I was on my way home one night and hit another doe crippling her. I had made some medieval type ax in shop at school that was in the bed of my truck. Unfortunately it wasn't as sharp as I thought and I ended up just beating her head in with a pretty shitty tool. For those that have seen the movie "The Patriot", it was similar to when Mel Gibson was hacking the British guy up in the creek and blood was flying everywhere.
Several years later I was in town headed to work and saw a really nice buck standing on the side of the road. Of course my attention was on him and I didn't see the spike and 4 pt in the road. killed both of them and totaled a 3/4 ton
To date I have hit 8 deer with a vehicle

Me either. That's why I have to live vicariously through my sister.
Nonetheless, the conversation was so good at the office this morning, I figured there would be plenty of stories get shared on this board.

Me and a buddy were driving from Seattle to Louisiana in the summer of 1996. It was my turn to drive and I was in Colorado on this 2 lane road in the middle of NOWHERE at about 2am.
This road was FILLED with rabbits ALL OVER it and I had already hit about 4 or 5 of them so I had slowed down to about 20-25mph because we were in a Geo Metro hatchback. Out of the left side of my vision I see something big moving towards the car and I had absolutely no where to go and this thing looked like it was coming right for me!
It was an ELK and it ran directly at the car and when it got about 10 feet away it banked off slightly and ended up going away from the car at an angle. It was one of the scariest things I've ever had happen while driving at night. If that thing had decided to hit that Geo Metro there would have been nothing left of the car or me!

My mom was driving her dad's convertible as a teenager when a buck jumped off an embankment and landed in the back seat. Bounced out, and she kept on going. When she got home and told her dad, he made her show him where it was, and they went back to bring it home.
Apparently that meat was about as tough as 30 yr old beef jerky.

In high school we were following a buddy to his camp one night during the summer time to drink. He had a lifted truck, we made a turn on a back road late at night and he locked em up but couldn't stop. He hit a doe and 2 or 3 fawns. I can't remember which was which but 2 died on the spot, one had minor injuries and took off, one was badly injured and not going to make it so he shot it with his pistol. We didn't want them to go to waste so we cleaned what we could at the camp.

A good friend of mine was driving his mom home from something late one evening when a doe jumped right in front of his truck. Deer rolls off in the ditch and he pulls over to look at the bumper. Deer is laying there and he's 2 minutes from his house so he figures he'll throw her in the bed. He walks up to the doe and it looks like her hip is shattered but otherwise not too beat up. Bout the time he goes to grab her back legs, in his own words, "that bitch come back to life and showed me real fast how hard a pissed off deer can kick". Mom starts screaming, deer is kicking, he's running back to the truck to get his pistol, realizes it's in the house, ends up finding a hammer in his tool box and has to finish the deer off serial killer style in front of his mom while getting kicked to hell.

When I was a kid, we had made a duck hunt at Catahoula, killed 1 can. Driving back, about to pull out on Hwy 28 a doe ran out in front of us.
a 10 point nailed our boat & trailer. Got out to find 10 point kicking underneath the boat. My uncle went to the truck to retrieve his pistol, by the time he got back, the buck expired. Fricked the boat and trailer all up. Uncle has 10 point hanging on wall of his office, loves to tell the story,

i've hit 3 with the truck i have now, all within the first year of buying it
1st one was a doe and rolled over her head after she tore off the front spoiler/air-dam. brought her home and salvaged all the meat i could
2nd one was a 6 pt that i NAILED on his rear end wrecking the front grill and passenger headlight. he went pin-balling into the woods bouncing off a lot of trees. no meat from him
3rd one was a big doe in mid-summer that ended getting rolled under my truck. she was still kicking around and the only gear i had with me was fishing poles/tackle. pulled off the receiver hitch and beat her to death - i felt like shite after this but was only "weapon" i had. kept the back straps.

I leave for work fairly early and it’s always dark on my drive. I also live out a ways, not middle of nowhere, but rural and we see deer from time to time. They randomly raid my garden!!!
I pull out of my driveway and hit the road and as my headlights lit the road in front of me I saw a deer cross from right to left just on the edge of my lights. I sped up… When I get to where the deer crossed I looked to my left because it was headed toward my house and hoped to see where it went. As I’m looking to left WHAM!! I get hit on my right side, sounded like a bomb went off, it shook my truck, and I slammed the brakes.
I get out, in the dark, and can tell my doors are dented in, but there is nothing in sight, no limb, deer, nothing, like a fart in the wind and I never saw what hit me.
I head to a street light and a small parking lot up the street. Sure enough, both passenger doors caved in, one was hard to open, the side mirror pushed in against the window, hair all over both doors, noose and hoof prints on the window… It must have jumped the ditch and hit me in mid-air. Shoulder hit the front door and arse hit the rear door. It cost me $500 deductible and I never saw the deer.

Was headed to a friends house to hang out one night, bought new Z71 in Aug 2004, this was Jan 2005. Last thing dad said "watch those damn deer." So, dude has a feeder in his front yard and sure enough a big slick-head buck draws a bead on my truck and hits the front passenger wheel and tumbles down both passenger doors, rocker and rear quarter. I get out and am fixing to grab the deer by the hocks and throw him in the truck when the bastard gets up, scared the shite out of me. So I leave and proceed to buddy's house. Few hours later I'm headed home along the same route, full moon and I see the deer's white belly in the moon, dead about 50 yds off the road. Load him up then, man he was tore up inside but I got my $6000 worth of hams and back straps.

I didn't hit it, but the best instant karma event ever.
Driving from bham to visit family back in Bedico, in bumshit Miss somewhere, little 4 door red car with New York tags and 4 dudes in it.
They would pass me, then slow down, then pass me, then slow down. Over and over. They swerved into my lane and I honked. They apparently didn't like that and kept swerving at me, and tailgating me. It was about 10 pm at the time.
Just when the wife removes seat belt to reposition herself, 3 deer run out, I slam on the brakes, wife slams into dashboard head first. New Yorkers hit deer at 70+ MPH.
I and keep on driving. Wife gets black eye, not as much
